Best Digital Employee Experience Software (2026): Top 8 Compared

Updated November 2026By StatWharf Editorial8 vendorsMethodology

Digital employee experience (DEX) software measures how laptops, desktops, virtual desktops and applications perform for the people using them, asks employees how they feel about it, and fixes common problems automatically. The eight products here split three ways. Nexthink, Lakeside SysTrack, TeamViewer DEX and Riverbed Aternity are dedicated DEX platforms built around an endpoint agent. ControlUp sells separate products for virtual desktops and physical devices. Omnissa, Ivanti and Tanium sell DEX as part of a wider endpoint management platform. Only Omnissa publishes prices; the others quote after a demo.

These comparisons draw on public product information, not hands-on testing of every tool. Source records identify available references and checks; missing evidence is marked. Buyer fit is an editorial assessment, not a measured performance score. How to use this research.

Digital employee experience software watches how laptops, desktops, virtual desktops and applications behave for the people using them and fixes common problems before they turn into tickets. Buyers also search for this category as DEX software, DEX tools and digital employee experience management software.

The eight products compared here fall into three groups. Nexthink, Lakeside SysTrack, TeamViewer DEX and Riverbed Aternity are dedicated DEX platforms. ControlUp pairs DEX with deep virtual desktop coverage. Omnissa, Ivanti and Tanium sell DEX inside a wider endpoint management platform. Pricing was checked in November 2026; only Omnissa publishes figures. Entries with dated source checks appear first. That order records research readiness. It is not a measure of product quality or a ranking.

Consider forLarge enterprises that want a dedicated DEX platform covering physical, virtual and mobile endpoints, with remote actions, workflows, employee campaigns and ITSM integration from one vendor
Pricing notesNo price published; the site directs buyers to request a demo, and no pricing page exists (checked Nov 2026)
Feature to evaluateSeparate modules for workplace, VDI, mobile and application experience share one data platform, with Spark offered as a personal IT agent that resolves issues for employees

Nexthink sells the Infinity platform for digital workplace teams. Its homepage states that more than 1,500 global enterprises use it. A lightweight agent called Collector gathers device, application and network data from each endpoint. The documentation covers installing Collector on Windows, macOS and IGEL OS, deploying it through Intune or Jamf, and configuring it for virtual machines. A browser extension adds data on web applications.

The platform is sold as modules. Workplace Experience provides the alert hub, a device timeline, remote actions and self-healing workflows. VDI Experience, Mobile Experience and Application Experience extend the same data to virtual desktops, mobile fleets and specific business applications. Flow builds automated workflows, and Experience Central is a cockpit for tracking DEX across the organisation. Campaigns send surveys and messages to employees.

The newer layer is agentic. Workspace reads ITSM ticket data and automates fixes from one console. Spark is a personal IT agent that resolves issues for employees directly. AI Drive measures adoption of AI tools. Amplify adds DEX context and remediation inside ITSM tools such as ServiceNow. The API lets teams query data with the Nexthink Query Language, trigger remote actions and workflows, and send campaigns. No price is published.

Potential strengths

  • Covers physical, virtual and mobile endpoints through named modules on one platform
  • Public documentation covers Collector deployment through Intune and Jamf, the query language and the API

Trade-offs

  • No public price, so cost is known only after a sales process
  • The module and AI agent line-up is broad, which makes it harder to scope a first purchase

Consider forEnterprises that need to measure business application response times from the user's view and correlate them with device, network and back-end data
Pricing notesNo price published; the product pages offer a demo request, and no trial is listed (checked Nov 2026)
Feature to evaluateHigh Frequency Analytics gives one-second endpoint data on a single device during an investigation, without running at that rate all the time

Aternity is Riverbed's digital experience line. The Digital Experience page groups Aternity Employee Experience, Aternity Mobile Experience, Aternity Customer Experience and Aternity Replay. This entry covers Employee Experience, the DEX product.

Aternity discovers applications automatically, tracks real usage and scores each application on crashes, hangs, errors and load times. Its click-to-render monitoring shows how long a step in a workflow takes for the user and helps locate the delay across the device, the network and back-end systems. Replay lets IT review a user's browser session with CPU and Wi-Fi context, without screen recording, so issues can be investigated without reproducing them. High Frequency Analytics can be switched on for one device through the Unified Agent, giving one-second data during a service desk investigation.

Employee sentiment is gathered in context and correlated with performance data. Riverbed IQ and an assistant called Q provide AI-led troubleshooting and approved automated actions, and Aternity Self-Service uses agentic AI to help employees fix problems themselves. Aternity DXI highlights digital experience hot spots across the organisation. Riverbed states that its platform for government holds FedRAMP authorisation. Customer stories on the site name Intel, Dow and an NHS trust. No price or trial is published.

Ivanti Neurons for Digital Experience

enterpriseivanti.com ↗
Consider forOrganisations using Ivanti endpoint, exposure or service management that want DEX scoring, sentiment analysis and self-healing bots on the same Ivanti Neurons platform
Pricing notesNo price published; the product page offers a demo and a contact-sales form, with no trial listed (checked Nov 2026)
Feature to evaluateThe DEX Score includes security and service desk signals alongside device, application and survey data

Ivanti sells DEX as part of its Autonomous Endpoint Management offering on the Ivanti Neurons platform. The product page describes DEX as a core pillar of that framework rather than a separate product, and the solution brief names it Ivanti Neurons for Digital Experience.

Data comes from Edge Intelligence, a distributed sensor framework that returns fleet-wide metrics from hundreds of data points. Discovery uses active and passive scanning to build an inventory. The DEX Score uses anomaly detection across five domains: device, application, security, service and survey. The page also lists baselines, trend tracking, prediction of productivity loss and synthetic testing for SaaS outages.

Remediation runs through bots. Ivanti Healing covers agent health, services, VPN and Wi-Fi, disk space, drivers and certificates. A low-code bot builder, prebuilt templates and a public bot library cover other fixes, and bots can run on a schedule across device groups. A Device Experience Survey bot asks users how their devices are working, and sentiment analysis covers ITSM incidents, surveys and feedback. AI Diagnostics accepts questions in natural language across the fleet.

DEX connects to Ivanti's endpoint management, exposure management and service management products. No price, trial or standalone documentation is published.

Potential strengths

  • Shares data with Ivanti endpoint management, exposure management and ITSM
  • A public bot library and low-code bot builder cover common fixes

Trade-offs

  • Positioned as part of Ivanti's autonomous endpoint management, so it suits existing Ivanti customers more than a standalone buyer
  • No public price, trial or product documentation beyond the solution brief

Tanium Digital Employee Experience

enterprisetanium.com ↗
Consider forOrganisations already using Tanium for endpoint management or security that want employee sentiment surveys, performance monitoring and self-healing on the same real-time platform
Pricing notesNo price published; DEX is delivered through the Engage and Performance modules, and the product pages lead to a demo request and data sheet (checked Nov 2026)
Feature to evaluateThe only product on this page whose listed operating systems include AIX and Solaris

Tanium sells real-time endpoint management and security, and added DEX in 2023. DEX is delivered through two modules. Engage handles the employee side: automated self-healing workflows, notifications to employees about issues that affect them, and custom sentiment surveys. Performance monitors endpoint and application performance in real time, flags issues against custom thresholds, supports investigation with current and historical data, and produces performance health scores. The Engage data sheet describes the two modules as a combined DEX solution.

Engage's reports measure sentiment for the whole organisation and for each employee, analyse survey results and quantify how far automation and self-help workflows are reducing help desk tickets. The data sheet says the aim is to find the small share of issues that create most help desk tickets and fix them automatically. Performance adds data on hardware resource use and application and system health.

Both product pages list Windows, macOS, Linux, AIX and Solaris. Because DEX runs on the same agent and console as Tanium's endpoint management and security tools, it suits existing Tanium customers. Tanium's former DEX solution page now redirects to its core platform page. No price is published, and buyers request a demo or data sheet.

Potential strengths

  • Runs on the same agent and console as Tanium endpoint management and security
  • Custom surveys can be deployed at any time and their results tied to automation outcomes

Trade-offs

  • DEX is split across two modules, Engage and Performance, so buyers need both for the full set
  • No public price, trial or DEX-specific product overview page

How to choose a vendor

Start from the endpoint estate

Virtual desktops change the shortlist. ControlUp lists Citrix, Omnissa Horizon, Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, Amazon, Parallels and Dizzion, and Omnissa scores Horizon 8 sessions. Nexthink, Lakeside and Aternity also cover VDI. Count physical, virtual and mobile endpoints before comparing anything else.

Decide whether DEX sits inside endpoint management

Omnissa, Ivanti and Tanium add DEX to a platform that already manages and patches devices. Nexthink, Lakeside, TeamViewer DEX, Aternity and ControlUp sit beside whatever endpoint management tool is already in place. A team that already runs Workspace ONE, Ivanti Neurons or Tanium should price the add-on first.

Check how remediation is approved

Every product here runs scripts or workflows to fix issues. They differ in where those fixes come from: TeamViewer lists more than 3,000 ready-made automations, Lakeside more than 250, and Ivanti a public bot library. Ask who can publish a fix, how it is tested and how it is rolled back.

Ask for the sentiment and data retention terms

Most products here collect employee feedback alongside telemetry, but survey design, frequency and storage differ. ControlUp keeps one month of VDI history on Essential and one year on Advanced. Ask each vendor how long raw data is kept and where it is hosted.

Frequently asked questions

What is digital employee experience software?

Digital employee experience (DEX) software measures how devices, virtual desktops and applications perform for employees, collects their feedback, and fixes common problems automatically. An agent on each endpoint sends performance data to a central platform, which scores experience, alerts IT to problems and runs scripts or workflows to repair them, often before a ticket is raised.

How is DEX software different from an employee experience platform?

Employee experience platforms such as intranets and engagement survey tools deal with communication, culture and HR feedback. DEX software deals with technology: device health, application performance, network quality and IT fixes. The two overlap only in sentiment surveys, and DEX surveys ask about IT tools rather than the job.

How much does digital employee experience software cost?

Only Omnissa publishes prices. Its DEX product is included in Workspace ONE Enterprise at $10.00 per device or $15.00 per user a month and Platinum at $15.63 per device or $24.71 per user a month, on a 12-month prepaid term. Nexthink, ControlUp, Lakeside, TeamViewer DEX, Riverbed Aternity, Ivanti and Tanium quote prices after a demo. ControlUp and TeamViewer publish their tier names without figures.

Which DEX tools are strongest for virtual desktops?

ControlUp has the broadest published VDI list: Citrix, Omnissa Horizon, Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, Amazon, Parallels and Dizzion. Nexthink sells a VDI Experience module. Omnissa scores Horizon 8 virtual machines. Lakeside SysTrack supports virtual environments and lists Citrix, Nutanix and VMware integrations, and Riverbed links Aternity to a VDI Intelligence solution.

Can DEX software run on premises?

Lakeside documents both SysTrack Cloud and SysTrack On-Premises, with separate release notes and a supported operating system list for on-premises installs. Omnissa describes Experience Management as a cloud service, though it connects to on-premises Horizon. The other vendors' public pages do not state an on-premises option, so buyers who need one should ask.

Do these tools fix problems automatically?

Yes. Each product runs remediation scripts or workflows. TeamViewer DEX lists more than 3,000 automations in its DEX Hub, Lakeside more than 250, and Ivanti publishes a bot library. Nexthink, ControlUp and Riverbed add AI agents or assistants that propose or run fixes within limits set by IT. Tanium Engage offers self-healing workflows employees can run themselves.

Should a team buy DEX from its endpoint management vendor?

It depends on the existing tools. Omnissa, Ivanti and Tanium add DEX to platforms that already manage and patch devices, which can mean one agent and one console. Nexthink, Lakeside, TeamViewer DEX, Riverbed Aternity and ControlUp work alongside any endpoint management tool and focus on experience data. Teams should compare the add-on price with a dedicated platform's quote.

How was this list compiled?

Candidates came from buyer queries for digital employee experience software and from vendor websites. Each vendor's product, pricing and documentation pages were read on 4 November 2026, and every figure comes from those pages. Intranet and engagement tools are covered on the employee experience platforms page instead. No product was tested hands-on, and no entry is vendor-confirmed.
