Best Video Hosting Platforms (2026): Top 10 Compared
A video hosting platform stores a business's videos, transcodes them for every device, delivers them over a content delivery network and plays them in an embeddable player without third-party ads. The ten platforms below sell that service in three ways. Wistia, Vimeo, SproutVideo and Dacast publish seat-or-tier subscriptions with storage and bandwidth allowances, aimed at marketing, training and communications teams. Brightcove, Kaltura and JWX sell enterprise video platforms through sales conversations, with monetization, live broadcasting and large-library management. Mux, Cloudflare Stream and Bunny Stream are developer infrastructure priced per minute or per gigabyte, where the buyer builds the viewing experience into its own product through an API.

These comparisons draw on public product information, not hands-on testing of every tool. Source records identify available references and checks; missing evidence is marked. Buyer fit is an editorial assessment, not a measured performance score. How to use this research.
Video hosting platforms store, encode and deliver business video through an ad-free, embeddable player, with the analytics, privacy controls and integrations that free social video sites do not provide. Buyers range from marketing teams embedding product demos on a website, to training and communications teams running internal libraries and town halls, to software companies building video into their own applications. Sales video messaging tools and AI video generators are separate categories and are not covered here.
The comparison below covers ten platforms in three groups: subscription platforms for business teams, enterprise video platforms sold through sales, and usage-priced developer infrastructure. Pricing comes from each vendor’s own pricing page or documentation, checked on 11 October 2026. Seven publish prices or unit rates; Brightcove and JWX are quote-based, and Kaltura publishes unit rates only for its Media Services API.

Wistia is a video hosting platform built around marketing on a company's own website. Every plan, including Free, provides a customizable ad-free player, a virtual recording studio, transcript-based editing and AI-generated highlights and social clips. Private sharing and password protection are also available on the free tier.
The Business plan removes Wistia branding and adds collections, channels and playlists, calls to action and forms, heatmaps, engagement graphs, A/B testing and CSV export, plus live chat support. Dubbing and AI audio descriptions are sold as an add-on below Enterprise.
The Business + Signals tier adds what Wistia calls the Automation Suite: integrations with HubSpot, Adobe Marketo Engage and Pardot, video engagement data written to contact records, automated lead scoring, audience segmentation, triggered email campaigns, sales alerts and pipeline attribution. Enterprise adds team accounts, SSO, video playback protection and a dedicated customer success manager. Wistia's FAQ states that the Business plan can be trialled without a credit card.

Standard adds player branding, third-party player support, custom watermarks, branded video galleries, lead capture and calls to action. Scale adds unlimited channels, chapter markers, DRM and AES encryption for on-demand video, advanced library management, a player CNAME and phone support. Kaltura sells a family of video products rather than a single hosting plan. Its pricing hub lists Video Content Management, Video Portal, Webinars, Town Halls, Virtual Events, Virtual Classroom, Video Messaging, Meetings and Media Services, and invites buyers to combine them.
Video Content Management is the hosting core: upload and bulk upload, metadata, playlists, integrations with video conferencing tools, distribution to social channels, a player studio with plugins, unlimited player designs and viewership and usage analytics. Kaltura says enterprise customers receive a dedicated customer success manager and 24/7 technical support.
Media Services is the API platform for building custom video experiences, priced by unit. Live streaming with up to three concurrent 1080p streams, slides, polls and moderated Q&A is listed at $1 per live viewer per hour, and automatic machine transcription is included for managed entries. A $1 limited trial provides $100 in credits for 30 days.
Potential strengths
- Rare published unit pricing for an enterprise video platform

- Packaged products such as Video Portal and Town Halls are quote-only

JWX now operates at the address long used by JW Player: the jwplayer.com pricing page redirects to jwx.com. JWX describes itself as a video technology and monetization platform for streamers, publishers and advertisers, organised into a Content Hub for publishers, a Streaming Hub for delivery and monetization, and advertising tools.
The video management and delivery pricing page describes three editions. Express is for low-volume content such as how-to and training videos. Publishing suits tutorials, demos and interviews. Broadcasting covers live and on-demand delivery to web, OTT and connected TV, including live event capture, 24/7 channel capture and clipping, archiving and replays.
All editions include transcoding, storage and delivery, playlist and metadata management, management and delivery APIs, multiple libraries and access roles, geoblocking and token signing. Higher editions add dynamic strategy rules, custom content types and MRSS import. Product menus list JWX Live, VOD, SSAI and DRM.
Potential strengths
- Usage meters and edition limits are described even though prices are not
- Option to pay through ad revenue share on some editions
Trade-offs

Mux is developer video infrastructure. It handles upload and live ingest, encoding, storage, streaming and playback through an API, and prices video in minutes rather than gigabytes because it stores one standardized encoded version of each video.
A Mux bill has four meters: input minutes encoded, storage minutes held in the library, delivery minutes sent to players, and Mux Robots units for AI workflows. Basic quality input is free, while plus and premium quality start at $0.025 and $0.0375 per minute at 720p. Storage and delivery scale with resolution, and a cold storage option discounts rarely watched assets.
Mux Player, Mux Data analytics for hosted video, on-demand auto-generated captions, signed URLs and domain restriction are included. Live captions are free for 6,000 minutes a month, then $0.024 per minute. Mux Robots workflows cover caption translation, summarization, chapters, key moments, thumbnails and content questions, each with published per-minute and per-job rates.
Potential strengths
- No platform or seat fee, with 100,000 free delivery minutes each month
- Detailed per-meter pricing published down to AI workflows
Trade-offs
- Requires developer work to build upload and viewing experiences
- No built-in marketing features such as lead capture or CRM sync
- Product reference
- Pricing source
- Billing terms: Usage-based per minute; optional monthly credit plans; Enterprise contracts
- Source review: checked Oct 11, 2026

Cloudflare Stream is Cloudflare's video product for uploading, encoding, storing and delivering on-demand and live video through one API, with a built-in player and HLS and DASH manifests. Its pricing documentation describes two billing dimensions only: minutes of video stored and minutes of video delivered.
Storage counts uploaded originals and recordings of RTMP or SRT live broadcasts, rounded to the second of duration regardless of file size, up to a 30 GB file limit. Multiple quality levels, MP4 download files and deleted or errored videos do not consume storage. If prepaid storage runs out, new uploads and live streams are blocked until more is purchased, although enterprise customers may continue beyond contracted quota.
Delivery is counted from HTTP requests for video segments, so client-side preloading and buffering are billable while playback from browser cache is not. Cloudflare's own example notes that two viewers each watching 30 minutes generates 60 delivered minutes, or $0.06. Simulcasting and MP4 downloads also count as delivery.
Potential strengths
- Two simple meters with no separate encoding or egress charges
- Live recordings and uploads share one storage pool
Trade-offs
- Uploads and new live streams stop when prepaid storage runs out on non-enterprise accounts
- Buffering and preloading count as billable delivery
- Product reference
- Pricing source
- Billing terms: Prepaid storage per 1,000 minutes monthly; delivery billed per 1,000 minutes

Bunny Stream is the video product of bunny.net, a content delivery network company. It packages video encoding, distributed storage, CDN delivery and an embeddable media player, and is priced by the gigabyte rather than by seat or minute.
Bunny's Stream pages contrast its pricing with traditional cloud providers, listing free encoding, storage from $0.01 per GB and CDN delivery from $0.005 per GB, and state that security features carry no extra charge. Storage can be replicated to additional regions, and the pricing calculator adds cost for each replication point selected.
Related products include Media Cage for content protection, an enterprise multi-DRM system that bunny.net says can prevent downloads, screen recording and screenshots, premium encoding, and Transcribe AI for one-click captions. A 14-day free trial is offered, and enterprise support plans are available through sales.
Potential strengths
- Lowest published per-gigabyte delivery rate on this page
- Free player and encoding reduce integration cost
Trade-offs
- Storage cost rises with each added replication region
- Marketing features such as lead capture and CRM sync are not part of the product
- Product reference
- Pricing source
- Billing terms: Usage-based per GB stored and delivered; $1 monthly minimum
- Source review: checked Oct 11, 2026

Frequently asked questions
What is a video hosting platform?
A video hosting platform stores a business's video files, transcodes them into formats for every device, delivers them through a content delivery network and plays them in an embeddable player. Unlike free social video sites, business platforms do not show third-party ads, and they add privacy controls, branding, analytics and integrations. Some, such as Mux and Cloudflare Stream, are developer infrastructure accessed through an API rather than a finished interface.
How much do video hosting platforms cost?
Entry prices on this page run from free plans at Wistia and Vimeo, and Vimeo Starter at $12 a month billed annually, to SproutVideo's Forest plan at $195 a month. Wistia Business + Signals costs $329 a month billed annually. Usage platforms start lower: Bunny Stream has a $1 monthly minimum, and Mux includes a $20 monthly usage credit. Brightcove and JWX publish no prices, and Kaltura quotes its packaged products.
What is the difference between Vimeo and Wistia for business video?
Both offer ad-free players and free plans. Vimeo's paid tiers start lower, at $12 a month billed annually, and add live events and multistreaming on its Advanced plan. Wistia's Business plan starts at $79 a month billed annually and focuses on website marketing, with heatmaps, A/B testing and, on the $329 Signals tier, lead scoring and pipeline attribution through HubSpot, Marketo and Pardot.
When does an API platform such as Mux or Cloudflare Stream make more sense?
An API platform suits a team building video into its own software, such as a course platform, a social app or a customer portal, where viewers never visit a vendor-branded page. These platforms bill per minute or per gigabyte with no seat fees, but the buyer's developers build upload, library and playback screens. Marketing teams that want a ready interface, lead capture and CRM sync usually prefer Wistia, Vimeo or SproutVideo.
Can a video hosting platform stream live events?
Most platforms here support live video. Vimeo includes hosted livestreamed events from its Advanced plan, SproutVideo includes live input hours from its Sprout plan, and Dacast includes live streaming with unlimited concurrent viewers on every published plan. Brightcove, Kaltura and JWX offer enterprise live broadcasting, and Mux and Cloudflare Stream bill live video through the same meters as on-demand video.
How do platforms protect videos from unauthorized copying?
Common controls include password protection, domain whitelisting, signed URLs and token signing, geo and IP restriction, viewer login with SSO, dynamic watermarks and DRM encryption. SproutVideo adds dynamic watermarks and signed embeds on Tree, Dacast includes DRM and AES encryption for on-demand video on Scale, Wistia reserves playback protection for Enterprise, and bunny.net sells an enterprise multi-DRM system. No method stops every screen recording.
Do video hosting platforms charge for bandwidth?
Most do, in different ways. Wistia and SproutVideo include bandwidth allowances per plan, Vimeo sets a 2 TB monthly limit on self-serve plans, and Dacast charges $0.30 per GB of overage data. Cloudflare Stream and Mux fold bandwidth into delivered minutes, and Bunny Stream and Kaltura Media Services charge per gigabyte delivered. Buyers expecting viral or public traffic should model delivery cost before choosing.
