Best SAP GDPR Compliance Tools (2026): Top 7 Compared
SAP GDPR compliance tools find personal data inside SAP systems and then block, delete, redact or anonymise it so retention rules and data subject rights can be met. The seven products below split by where they act. SAP Information Lifecycle Management and Proceed Automate work on retention, blocking and deletion in production. EPI-USE Labs and paricon cover both production and non-production systems in one suite. Qlik Gold Client, Natuvion DCS Protect and Libelle Data Masking concentrate on anonymising the personal data that system copies carry into test, development and training landscapes. Only one product here has a published price: Proceed Automate on the UK G-Cloud marketplace.

These comparisons draw on public product information, not hands-on testing of every tool. Source records identify available references and checks; missing evidence is marked. Buyer fit is an editorial assessment, not a measured performance score. How to use this research.
SAP GDPR compliance tools help organisations running SAP meet the parts of the General Data Protection Regulation that are hardest to satisfy inside an ERP: keeping personal data only as long as needed, blocking it when legal retention still applies, erasing it on request, answering access requests, and keeping real personal data out of test systems. SAP’s integrated data model spreads a single customer, vendor or employee across master data, documents, change logs and custom tables, which is why generic privacy software rarely reaches far enough.
The market splits into three groups. SAP Information Lifecycle Management is the SAP-delivered base for retention, blocking and destruction, and Proceed Automate extends it for employee data. EPI-USE Labs and paricon sell suites that cover production erasure and test data anonymisation together. Qlik Gold Client, Natuvion DCS Protect and Libelle Data Masking focus mainly on anonymising data in non-production copies. Buyers comparing broader options may also review data privacy management software, SAP compliance software and SAP GRC tools.
Vendor details and trade-offs
EPI-USE Labs is an SAP software and services company with a long history in SAP data management, best known for its Data Sync Manager suite for system copies and test data. Its Data Privacy Suite for SAP applies the same engine to privacy law. The vendor names GDPR, CCPA and POPIA as the regulations it addresses, and states that the suite targets the integrated SAP data model, where personal data spreads into many tables over years of customisation.
The suite has four modules. Data Disclose searches an SAP landscape to locate and present the footprint of a single data subject, which supports access requests. Data Redact is a Fiori app aimed at the right to erasure under GDPR Article 17. It removes identifying fields such as name, telephone number and bank details from a customer, vendor or employee record without deleting the record, so payments and invoices that reference it stay intact. Data Retain finds data subjects due for redaction based on configurable retention rules, including periods for former employees. Data Secure scrambles sensitive fields in non-production systems as part of a system copy.
EPI-USE Labs starts most engagements with a discovery assessment. It uses the company's map of the SAP data dictionary to search for known personal data elements, checks which fields are actually populated, and runs workshops to agree retention periods and treatment rules. The vendor states this assessment carries no upfront licence cost, though it includes about one and a half to two weeks of professional services, and that it ends with a fixed-price, fixed-scope implementation quote. The company also partners with Soterion to review which users can see privacy data. The suite fits SAP customers that want one vendor for production and test privacy. It is less suited to buyers that want a published price before talking to sales.
Potential strengths
- Four modules cover access requests, redaction, rule-based retention and non-production scrambling
- Discovery assessment maps where personal data sits before any licence is bought
- Redaction keeps referential integrity, so invoices and payments remain usable
Trade-offs
- No list price; the implementation cost is quoted only after the paid discovery work
- Production modules depend on a services-led project rather than a self-service setup

SAP Information Lifecycle Management, usually shortened to SAP ILM, is SAP's own extension for managing data from creation to destruction under legal retention rules. It is the reference point for most of the third-party tools on this page, several of which describe themselves as extending or replacing it. An SAP user group webinar from December 2023 states that ILM is available in S/4HANA, S/4HANA Cloud and other systems on SAP NetWeaver, and points customers to an SAP note with release recommendations for using it for data protection.
SAP describes three main scenarios. Retention management applies rules to archive data and later destroy it once the retention period ends. Simplified blocking and deletion evaluates whether personal master data still has a business purpose and destroys it when it does not. Where other retention requirements still apply, the data is blocked rather than deleted, so ordinary users can no longer display it while authorised users still can. The retention warehouse scenario holds data from legacy systems that are being shut down, so that the old system does not need to keep running.
The SAP document reviewed shows a retention period followed by a blocking period, and the destruction of the related records once retention ends. The appeal is that blocking and destruction run inside the SAP application and respect SAP's own business logic. The trade-off is effort. Each business object needs retention rules configured, custom Z tables need their own handling, and ILM does not anonymise production copies used in test systems. No price was found in the material reviewed. ILM fits SAP customers that want the vendor-delivered route and have the configuration capacity. It is a weaker fit for teams that need fast results on test systems.
Potential strengths
- Delivered by SAP and available in S/4HANA, S/4HANA Cloud and other SAP NetWeaver systems
- Rule-based retention management drives both archiving and destruction
- Blocking keeps data visible only to authorised users while retention obligations remain
Trade-offs
- No price found in the reviewed SAP material; licensing must be discussed with SAP
- Coverage of custom tables and non-production anonymisation needs other tools or configuration

paricon AG is an SAP consultancy and software house based in Rosenheim, Germany, with frameworks for SAP data migration, integration, data quality and data protection. Its Data Protection Suite combines two of those frameworks into one package aimed at end-to-end GDPR work in SAP: the Data Reduction Framework for production systems and Smart Data Protection for test systems. Both are delivered as an SAP add-on that the vendor says runs on all ABAP-based platforms, including S/4HANA and BW/4HANA, without modifications to the SAP standard.
The suite works in four steps. A smart search locates personal data across SAP tables and fields, and paricon states that it needs no prior knowledge of the data model. A categorisation and rule framework with allow and deny lists then decides what happens to each field. In test systems, the suite applies irreversible anonymisation using cryptographic hashes while leaving primary keys and IDs unchanged, so business processes still run. In production, it offers selective deletion, blocking, archiving or pseudonymisation. A central hub controls and logs every run, which paricon positions as audit evidence.
paricon answers the ILM question directly. It states that the Data Reduction Framework can be used alongside SAP ILM or as an alternative, and that it adds data obfuscation and flexible object selection that ILM does not cover. The vendor reports that the largest SAP ERP copy it has anonymised was about 70 TB, and lists DZ BANK, R+V and Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall among its references. It also says first protection runs often start within 72 hours because the rule content is predefined. No price is published. The suite suits SAP customers, especially in regulated finance, that want one add-on for production and test. Buyers outside the German market should ask about local support.
Potential strengths
- Smart search finds personal data without prior knowledge of the data model
- Test anonymisation uses cryptographic hashes while keeping primary keys
- Runs on all ABAP platforms without modifying the SAP standard
Trade-offs
- No published price
- Vendor references are concentrated in German financial services
- Product reference
- Product documentation

Qlik is a data integration and analytics company, and Qlik Gold Client is its SAP test data management line, used to copy selected subsets of production data into development, QA and training systems. Qlik Gold Client for Data Protection adds privacy functions to that line. Qlik's SAP privacy page names GDPR, CCPA and Brazil's LGPD as the regulations it supports, with a focus on SAP environments.
In production, Qlik describes three functions. It synchronises anonymisation across core and industry-specific SAP modules, and states that the anonymisation cannot be reverse engineered. It implements the right to be forgotten by erasing or obfuscating personal information in production. And it reports on those procedures so that compliance can be shown. Qlik states that its referential integrity handling means that when a customer is purged, every instance of that person's data is removed across all SAP environments, and that Gold Client can also delete the SAP change documents that still hold the original values. Change documents are often missed in manual deletion projects, which makes this point worth testing.
For non-production systems, Qlik offers two masking modes. Dynamic masking scrambles data in flight while it is copied from production. Static masking applies scrambling rules to a non-production system that already holds unmasked data. Qlik says the masking cannot be reversed to recover the source values. The wider Gold Client product also supports divestitures and building small S/4HANA pilot systems. No price is published; buyers are directed to contact sales. Gold Client for Data Protection fits SAP teams that already use or plan to use Gold Client for test data. Buyers that only need production retention and blocking may find it broader than required.
Potential strengths
- Combines test data subsetting with masking in one product line
- Offers both dynamic masking in flight and static masking of existing copies
- Addresses erasure in production, not only test data
Trade-offs
- No published price for Gold Client
- Privacy features are one part of a broader test data management product

Natuvion is an SAP transformation and data management company with units in the DACH region, Slovakia, the Americas and Asia-Pacific. Its Data Conversion Suite covers analysis, migration, validation, testing, decommissioning and protection of data, and DCS Protect is the module for personal and sensitive data. Natuvion states that DCS Protect supports compliance with major data protection regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
DCS Protect can be used during test migrations, for example in an S/4HANA programme, or on its own for ongoing operation of test, quality, development and training systems. It analyses a system or database to identify personally identifiable information and suggests de-identification rules for what it finds. It then depersonalises, anonymises or pseudonymises the data, including key fields, using dynamic and static methods. Natuvion supplies best-practice templates that can be adjusted for specific regulations and customer rules, and every rule can be simulated before it changes data. Reporting covers each depersonalisation run and changes to rules and configuration. The vendor also states that DCS Protect handles SAP, non-SAP and cloud systems, which supports process tests that span several systems.
One feature applies to production. DCS Protect for BW integrates with SAP ILM notifications, imports blocking and deletion requests from SAP ERP, and blocks or deletes the matching information objects in SAP Business Warehouse. That addresses a common gap, since ILM rules in ERP do not automatically reach data already loaded into BW. Natuvion also presents the product as a way to protect trade secrets in test systems alongside personal data. No price is published. DCS Protect fits SAP customers in the middle of an S/4HANA move, or those whose BW holds personal data. It is not a full production erasure tool for ERP.
Potential strengths
- Works during test migrations and as a standalone tool in daily operations
- Rules can be simulated before data is changed
- Extends ILM blocking and deletion into SAP Business Warehouse
Trade-offs
- No published price
- Positioned mainly for test, quality, development and training systems rather than production erasure

Libelle IT Group is a German software company headquartered in Leinfelden-Echterdingen that sells tools for SAP system operations, including Libelle System Copy for automated SAP refreshes and Business Shadow for high availability. Libelle Data Masking is its anonymisation product. It replaces personal and sensitive data in non-production systems with realistic-looking values, and Libelle lists GDPR among the frameworks it helps with, along with HIPAA, PCI DSS, PIPL and Switzerland's FADP.
The product works at database level rather than through the SAP application layer. Libelle states that it can anonymise up to 200,000 entries per second, with parallel processing for larger tables, and cites a customer that anonymised a 5 TB database in about three hours. It ships more than 40 anonymisation algorithms, covering names, addresses, dates, email addresses, IBANs and organisations, plus a reference database of target values. SAP templates are provided for SAP CRM, ERP, FI/CO, HCM, SD and SRM. Supported databases include SAP HANA, SAP ASE, SAP MaxDB, Oracle, IBM Db2, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL and MariaDB.
A run has four phases. An inspection phase checks the infrastructure and, for SAP, confirms that the target is not a production system. A preparation phase loads reference files, generates keys and can create backup tables. The anonymisation phase applies the configured algorithms, and a final review checks data consistency and produces a report. A test run can simulate the whole process first. Libelle offers a cloud edition on the AWS and Azure marketplaces and a free demo version on its site, but publishes no price. The product fits Basis teams that refresh SAP systems often and want masking built into that routine. It does not address production retention or erasure.
Potential strengths
- Free demo version can be tried without a sales call
- Supports SAP HANA, SAP ASE, MaxDB, Oracle, Db2, SQL Server and more
- Checks automatically that the SAP target is not a production system
Trade-offs
- No published price
- Covers non-production anonymisation only, not production blocking or erasure
- Product reference
- Product documentation
- Billing terms: Not recorded
- Source review: checked Oct 25, 2026
- Vendor confirmation: not confirmed
Proceed Group is a UK SAP data management firm that offers archiving, SAP ILM services, system decommissioning through its Cella product, and data compliance through Proceed Automate. On the UK government's G-Cloud 14 marketplace, Proceed Data Management Limited lists the compliance product as GDPR Automate for SAP and describes it as extending SAP ILM to give more choice in handling personal information.
The G-Cloud listing is specific about scope. Automate removes employee data, provides blocking, and lets the customer choose soft or hard deletion. It offers a simple route for data in custom ZHR tables and in infotype PA9000, which are common places for employee data that standard ILM objects do not reach. It uses SAP ILM retention management rules rather than a separate rule engine, and it keeps an audit trail of the employees it has blocked or deleted. Proceed lists benefits as less customisation time, simpler testing, rapid deployment and lower cost for bespoke objects.
The listing also sets out a six-step delivery. Proceed analyses the SAP database to find GDPR-relevant data, maps that analysis to the customer's data policy, installs its Black Light technology and activates ILM if needed, configures both for any bespoke tables, tests with key users, and supports the first runs that block or delete leavers. Support runs by email, ticket and phone from 9 to 5 UK time on weekdays, with a 24-hour response target for critical incidents. The listed price is GBP 5,340.00 per unit per month. That is a UK public-sector figure and the listing does not define a unit, so buyers elsewhere should treat it as a reference point. Automate fits SAP HCM customers with leaver retention obligations. Buyers needing customer or vendor erasure should confirm coverage.
Potential strengths
- Only product here with a published price
- Handles custom ZHR tables and infotype PA9000 data
- Keeps an audit trail of each employee blocked or deleted
Trade-offs
- Listed scope centres on employee data rather than customers or vendors
- Published price is a UK public-sector listing, not a global rate card
- Product reference
- Product documentation
- Pricing source
- Billing terms: Per unit per month (G-Cloud listing)

Frequently asked questions
What do SAP GDPR compliance tools actually do?
They find personal data inside SAP systems and apply a treatment to it: blocking it from ordinary users once its business purpose ends, deleting or redacting it when retention periods expire, answering a data subject's access request, or anonymising it in system copies used for testing and training. GDPR itself does not prescribe a tool, so these products automate work that would otherwise be done with custom reports and manual deletion across thousands of SAP tables.
Is SAP ILM enough for GDPR on its own?
SAP ILM provides the SAP-delivered functions for retention management and simplified blocking and deletion of personal master data in S/4HANA and other SAP NetWeaver systems. It does not anonymise personal data in test system copies, and custom Z tables need their own configuration. That is why vendors such as Proceed describe their products as extending ILM, and paricon offers its Data Reduction Framework as an alternative or complement. Whether ILM alone is enough depends on the landscape and the custom data it holds.
What is the difference between blocking, deletion and anonymisation?
Blocking restricts access to personal data that must still be kept for legal reasons, so only authorised users can see it. Deletion removes data once no retention obligation remains. Redaction, as in EPI-USE Labs Data Redact, removes identifying fields while keeping the business record. Anonymisation replaces personal values irreversibly, usually in test systems, and pseudonymisation replaces them in a way that can be reversed with a key.
Why does test data matter for GDPR in SAP?
Most SAP test and development systems are built from copies of production, so they carry real customer, vendor and employee data. Those systems are often open to more developers and external partners than production. paricon points to the privacy-by-design duty in GDPR Article 25 as the reason to anonymise test copies. Qlik Gold Client, Natuvion DCS Protect, Libelle Data Masking and EPI-USE Labs Data Secure anonymise that data during or after the copy.
Which SAP GDPR compliance tools publish prices?
Only one listing reviewed shows a figure. Proceed Data Management lists GDPR Automate for SAP on the UK G-Cloud 14 marketplace at GBP 5,340.00 per unit per month, a public-sector listing rather than a global price. EPI-USE Labs states that its discovery assessment carries no upfront licence cost but includes paid services, followed by a fixed-price implementation quote. SAP, paricon, Qlik, Natuvion and Libelle publish no price. Libelle offers a free demo version.
Do these tools also cover CCPA and other privacy laws?
Several vendors name other laws in their documentation. EPI-USE Labs names CCPA and South Africa's POPIA. Qlik names CCPA and Brazil's LGPD. Natuvion names CCPA. Libelle lists HIPAA, PCI DSS, PIPL and Switzerland's FADP among others. The core mechanics of retention, deletion and anonymisation are shared across these laws, but retention periods and definitions differ, so rules must be configured per jurisdiction.
How should this comparison be used?
Use the documented product fit, source status, pricing and trade-offs to build a shortlist, then validate each finalist against the buyer's own SAP landscape, current vendor documentation and a pilot on a copy of real data. The order of entries is not a ranking.
What should be checked during an S/4HANA migration?
A migration is a natural point to reduce personal data, because data that is not migrated does not need to be protected afterwards. Natuvion DCS Protect is designed to run during test migrations, Qlik Gold Client supports building S/4HANA pilot systems with masked subsets, and SAP ILM's retention warehouse holds legacy data from systems being shut down. Confirm with each vendor that its tool supports the target S/4HANA release and hosting model.
