Best Org Chart Software (2026): Top 9 Compared

Updated October 2026By StatWharf Editorial9 vendorsMethodology

Org chart software builds a company's reporting structure from employee data and keeps it current as people join, move and leave. The nine products below fall into three groups. OrgChart, Organimi, TeamOrgChart and Sift are dedicated charting tools with published prices, priced by employees charted or by users with access. Workleap (formerly Pingboard) and ChartHop place the org chart inside a wider people platform that also covers directories, performance, compensation or headcount planning. Functionly, Ingentis org.manager and Nakisa add org design, scenario modelling and HR analytics, with Ingentis and Nakisa aimed at large enterprises running SAP, Workday or Oracle.

These comparisons draw on public product information, not hands-on testing of every tool. Source records identify available references and checks; missing evidence is marked. Buyer fit is an editorial assessment, not a measured performance score. How to use this research.

Org chart software turns employee records into a live map of the organisation. It reads names, titles, managers and departments from an HRIS, payroll system, directory or spreadsheet, draws the reporting structure, and redraws it when people join, move or leave. Most products add search, photos, permissions over sensitive fields and exports, and some add planning views for reorganisations. General diagramming tools without a dedicated org chart product are not covered.

The comparison below covers nine products. Features and pricing come from each vendor’s own product and pricing pages, checked on 8 October 2026. Six entries publish price figures: Workleap, OrgChart, Organimi, Functionly, Sift and TeamOrgChart. ChartHop, Ingentis org.manager and Nakisa quote through sales, so their profiles record the plan structure their pages describe.

Related pages cover HR software, HRMS software and employee experience platforms.

Workleap (formerly Pingboard)

smbworkleap.com ↗
Consider forSmall and mid-size companies, including hybrid and distributed teams, that want an org chart and employee directory inside the same suite as engagement surveys and performance reviews, as Workleap's org chart and pricing pages describe
Pricing notesPingboard is now sold as part of Workleap. The pricing page lists Standard starting at $4,999 USD and Pro starting at $11,999 USD, billed annually; the org chart and people directory are included from Standard. The page does not state the period or headcount behind the starting figures. Organisations with more than 250 employees are asked to contact sales for an Enterprise plan (checked Oct 2026)
Feature to evaluatePrivate planning org charts let HR model resource allocation under different scenarios and invite colleagues to comment before changes go live

Pingboard was a cloud org chart and employee directory. Its product page now states that Pingboard is Workleap, the same org chart and directory solution as part of the Workleap employee experience suite, and pingboard.com redirects to Workleap.

The org chart shows reporting structures, departments and cross-functional teams, and the directory lets employees look up who works on what. Custom profiles record colleagues' interests and skills, and a Who's Who game asks employees to match faces to names. For planning, HR can build private org charts that model how people would be allocated under different scenarios, and invite others to comment on them.

Data comes in through automated HRIS integrations or an Excel upload. Workleap's pricing page bundles the org chart and people directory with engagement reports, performance management, goals, recognition and AI summaries in the Standard tier. Pro adds API access, SAML SSO, custom properties and personalised onboarding, and Enterprise adds a dedicated customer success manager, purchase orders and custom contracts.

Potential strengths

  • Org chart, directory, custom profiles and HRIS sync come with the wider Workleap suite
  • Employee data can be imported from an HRIS integration or an Excel file

Trade-offs

  • The org chart is no longer priced as a standalone product
  • Published figures are starting prices, and the unit behind them is not stated

Feature to evaluateEvery account includes the org chart, permission-controlled employee profiles, a map view, a data sheet that syncs to Google Sheets or Excel and people analytics dashboards

ChartHop describes itself as an organisational intelligence company. Its platform pulls people and business data from existing systems into a model of the organisation that stays current through continuous syncs, and buyers can keep their own HRIS or use ChartHop's.

People analytics dashboards cover headcount, cost, attrition, span of control and tenure, and an AI assistant answers questions across connected systems.

Workflow modules for HRIS, headcount planning, compensation reviews, performance, engagement and goals can be added later. The September 2026 product update lists a scenario org chart among recent changes.

Feature to evaluateCharts built from SharePoint Online, Office 365, Active Directory or SQL Server load data dynamically and are not stored by the vendor

How to choose a vendor

Check what the price is counted on

Prices on this page use different units. OrgChart prices by employees charted, starting at 100. Organimi and TeamOrgChart price by organisation size. Sift charges a base fee that includes 20 users plus a fee per additional user who can log in. Functionly charges per user seat, where a seat is someone who edits data. Workleap quotes a starting annual price for its platform tier. Count employees, viewers and editors before comparing figures.

Confirm the HRIS connection before the chart

An org chart stays accurate only if it syncs from the system of record. OrgChart lists more than 50 HR, ATS and payroll integrations and limits how many a plan can use. Organimi keeps its connectors on Premium. TeamOrgChart reads from SharePoint Online, Office 365, Active Directory and SQL Server, and Ingentis and Nakisa connect to SAP, Workday and Oracle.

Decide whether planning is part of the job

Several products separate the live chart from a private planning view. OrgChart puts position-based workforce planning on Pro, Functionly adds scenarios and cost forecasts on Advanced, Workleap offers private planning org charts, and ChartHop sells headcount planning as a module. Teams that only publish a current chart can avoid paying for these tiers.

Plan who should see sensitive fields

An org chart often carries salary, performance or personal details next to names. OrgChart sets access groups by plan, two on Core, five on Plus and unlimited on Pro. ChartHop shows each profile field only to permitted viewers, Functionly Advanced adds a privacy mode for sensitive data, and Organimi and Sift offer single sign-on. Map viewer groups before choosing a tier.

Frequently asked questions

What is org chart software?

Org chart software builds a visual map of who reports to whom from employee data and keeps it current as the organisation changes. Most products import data from an HRIS, payroll system, directory or spreadsheet, refresh it on a schedule, and let employees search, filter and share the chart. Many add employee profiles, workforce planning or HR analytics.

How much does org chart software cost?

Published prices on this page start at a free Organimi plan for up to 25 employees and TeamOrgChart at $25 a month or $200 a year for up to 200 employees. OrgChart starts at $105 a month for 100 employees charted, billed annually, and Sift at $150 a month for 20 users. ChartHop, Ingentis and Nakisa quote through sales.

Can org charts update automatically from an HRIS?

Yes. OrgChart lists more than 50 integrations, including ADP, Workday, UKG, Dayforce and Paychex. ChartHop connects to more than 100 HRIS, ATS and finance tools. Workleap, Sift and Organimi Premium sync from HR or identity systems, and Ingentis and Nakisa connect to SAP, Workday and Oracle. Most products also accept CSV or Excel imports.

What is the difference between org chart software and a diagramming tool?

A diagramming tool draws a chart that someone must edit by hand after every hire or move. Org chart software generates the chart from employee records and refreshes it from the source system, and usually adds search, permissions over sensitive fields, historical versions and planning views that a static diagram lacks.

Which products support workforce planning or reorganisations?

OrgChart Pro adds position-based workforce planning, and Functionly Advanced forecasts cost, headcount and FTE across scenarios. Workleap offers private planning org charts, ChartHop sells a headcount planning module, Ingentis includes change simulations, and Nakisa pairs its Org Chart Suite with an Org Design Suite.

How are org chart tools priced, per employee or per user?

It varies. OrgChart, Organimi and TeamOrgChart price by the number of employees in the organisation or charted. Sift charges a base fee covering 20 users plus a fee per additional user who can log in. Functionly charges per editing seat with unlimited people charted. Workleap publishes starting annual prices for platform tiers.

Do any of these tools offer a free plan or trial?

Organimi has a free plan for up to 25 employees, one admin and one chart, plus a 14-day Premium trial. TeamOrgChart offers a 30-day trial without a credit card, Functionly a 22-day trial and Sift a 14-day trial of Sift Complete. Workleap, ChartHop, Ingentis and Nakisa direct buyers to a demo.

Which org chart products suit large enterprises?

Ingentis org.manager and Nakisa are built for large organisations with SAP, Workday or Oracle data, and Nakisa states Fortune 1000 companies use it. OrgChart's Pro plan and Sift Enterprise, for organisations above 1,000 employees, also target larger headcounts, with Sift Enterprise adding security reviews, a 99.9% SLA and volume discounts.
