These comparisons draw on public product information, not hands-on testing of every tool. Source records identify available references and checks; missing evidence is marked. Buyer fit is an editorial assessment, not a measured performance score. How to use this research.
Employee engagement software helps an organisation learn how its people feel about their work and act on what it hears. The category covers engagement and pulse surveys, recognition and rewards, and the internal communications that keep every employee informed.
The eleven products compared here come from three starting points. Culture Amp, Qualtrics, Workday Peakon, Quantum Workplace and Workleap are survey and analytics platforms. Lattice and 15Five sell engagement as a module of a performance platform. Bonusly, Achievers and Vantage Circle start from recognition and rewards, and Staffbase from internal communications.
Every entry was checked against the vendor’s own pages in September 2026. Five of the eleven publish a figure. For Quantum Workplace that figure is a minimum annual contract rather than a rate.
Vendor details and trade-offs
Culture Amp is a survey-first engagement vendor whose product pages draw on its People Science research team. It sells a platform it calls CultureOS, with two main products. Engage covers engagement surveys, pulse surveys and analytics. Perform covers performance reviews, coaching and development. An AI Coach is built into both and turns survey results into themes and suggested next steps for managers.
The Engage page describes more than 40 survey templates, a Culture Quadrant diagnostic that links engagement to business performance confidence, pulse surveys and benchmarks. Culture Amp publishes case studies from NASCAR, OLX Group and On.
Pricing is quoted. The pricing page lists what every plan includes: AI Coach, a multilingual platform, SSO, shoutouts for praise, HRIS and chat integrations, GDPR and SOC 2 compliance. Support scales with company size, and enterprise customers over 1,000 employees receive manager training and a results call with a People Scientist.
Potential strengths
- Every plan includes AI Coach, Slack and Microsoft Teams integrations, HRIS integrations and SSO
- People Science consulting is available as an add-on for survey design and analysis
Trade-offs
- No price is published, even for small organisations
- One-on-one customer success support starts at the 200-employee tier

Qualtrics is best known for survey and customer experience software, and sells a separate Employee Experience suite. The product page lists six parts: 360 development feedback, engagement and pulse surveys, employee lifecycle management, connected experiences, lifecycle intelligence and enhanced actioning.
Connected Experiences is the part most specific to Qualtrics. It links employee experience data to customer outcomes and business metrics, which suits organisations that already run Qualtrics for customer feedback. Enhanced actioning analyses large volumes of comments to surface trending issues and gives each leader personalised recommendations.
For buyers comparing survey platforms, the practical question is scope. Qualtrics suits a central people analytics team running several listening programmes at once, rather than a small HR team running one annual survey. Qualtrics cites a State of Iowa programme that reported a 20 percent rise in trust in leadership within six months. That is the vendor's case study. Employee Experience pricing is quoted on request.
Potential strengths
- Covers engagement, pulse, lifecycle and 360 development feedback in one suite
- AI analysis of open-text comments with recommended actions for each leader
Trade-offs
- No price is published for any Employee Experience package
- The breadth of the wider experience-management platform can exceed what a small HR team needs

Peakon was a standalone engagement company before Workday acquired it, and the product is now sold as Workday Peakon Employee Voice. Workday describes it as an AI-powered listening solution that tracks how employees feel and helps leaders put plans in place.
The product page lists six uses: engagement, retention, leadership development, diversity and inclusion, health and well-being, and transformation. For retention, the product aims to explain why people leave and forecast turnover. For analysis, it uses AI to surface themes and summaries from comments, with benchmarks and dashboards for every stakeholder.
The scheduling options are designed for recurring surveys rather than a single annual census, and dashboards are shared with managers so that action is not left to HR alone. Workday cites a 57-point eNPS rise and a 10 percent fall in voluntary turnover from a customer webinar. These are vendor-reported outcomes. No price is published.
Potential strengths
- Documented use cases cover engagement, retention, leadership development, DEI, well-being and change
- Flexible survey scheduling aimed at multi-year listening programmes
Trade-offs
- No price is published
- Buyers outside the Workday ecosystem get less benefit from its data connections

Quantum Workplace sells four connected products: Engagement, Performance, Development and Recognition, the last powered by Assembly. They can be bought separately or bundled for a discount.
The engagement product rests on the company's e9 model, a set of tested questions for measuring engagement over time, and a 6-point agreement scale with no neutral answer. Pulse surveys, lifecycle surveys, analytics, benchmarks, action planning and one-on-ones sit alongside it. Surveys can be completed on desktop, kiosk or by SMS, which helps with frontline staff.
The pricing page is unusual in stating a floor: the minimum annual contract is $15,000. Service tiers add depth. Signature includes a dedicated customer success manager. Signature Plus adds engagement survey design sessions and an executive presentation by an Insights Analyst. Premium adds a dedicated analyst and manager training.
Potential strengths
- Surveys reach employees by desktop, kiosk and SMS text
- Signature Plus and Premium service plans add an Insights Analyst and executive results presentations

The Team plan adds unlimited seats, pulse check analytics, automated milestone celebrations, HRIS provisioning and one-on-one agendas. The Organization plan adds company announcements, awards and incentives, company-wide analytics, recognition quality reporting and SAML SSO. An analytics module measures how employees engage with content. Staffbase also markets an employee AI assistant aimed at frontline staff.
Pricing is quoted in tiers linked to the size of the workforce. The pricing page frames the range as anything from 500 desk workers to 50,000 frontline employees. Frequently asked questions
What is employee engagement software?
It is software that measures how committed and motivated employees are and helps managers act on the results. The core is an engagement survey with analytics and action plans. Many products add pulse surveys, recognition, rewards or internal communications. The eleven products on this page cover all three approaches.
How much does employee engagement software cost?
Five of the eleven publish a figure. Lattice Engagement and 15Five Engage are each $4 per user a month, billed annually, and Lattice has a $4,000 annual minimum. Bonusly Team is $5 per user a month on the annual view. Workleap starts at $4,999 a year. Quantum Workplace states a $15,000 minimum annual contract. The rest quote on request.
Is there a free employee engagement tool?
Bonusly has a free plan for up to 8 users with peer recognition, Slack and Teams integrations and mobile apps. None of the survey-first platforms on this page lists a free plan.
What is the difference between engagement surveys and recognition software?
Engagement surveys ask employees how they feel and show leaders what drives or drains commitment. Culture Amp, Qualtrics, Workday Peakon and Quantum Workplace are built around this. Recognition software, such as Bonusly, Achievers and Vantage Circle, gives employees a daily way to thank each other and redeem rewards. Several recognition vendors now add pulse surveys.
Which tools suit small companies?
Workleap publishes prices for organisations of up to 250 employees. Lattice and 15Five publish per-user prices, although Lattice has a $4,000 annual minimum. Bonusly is free for up to 8 users. Culture Amp describes a service package for organisations under 200 employees but does not publish its price.
Which tools suit frontline and deskless workers?
Staffbase is built to reach frontline staff through an employee app, digital signage and email. Quantum Workplace accepts survey responses by kiosk and SMS. Achievers describes its recognition platform as designed for deskless and remote teams.
Do engagement platforms integrate with an HRIS?
Yes, most do. Culture Amp, Lattice, 15Five, Quantum Workplace and Bonusly list HRIS integrations. Workday Peakon sits inside the Workday product family, and Achievers states that recognition can run inside Workday. Ask each vendor which HRIS it supports and how often data syncs.
How often should engagement surveys run?
The vendors here support both an annual census and shorter pulse surveys. Quantum Workplace, Culture Amp and 15Five document pulse surveys alongside a full engagement survey, and Workday Peakon describes flexible scheduling for continuous listening. Many buyers run one full survey a year with shorter pulses between, and add onboarding and exit surveys at those lifecycle points.
What should a buyer ask in an engagement software demo?
Ask to see a line manager's view of results for a small team, how anonymity thresholds hide small groups, and what an action plan looks like after the survey closes. Ask how the product connects to the HRIS, what the minimum contract is, and whether reward spend or AI features are billed separately. Bonusly, for example, lists its AI assistant as a separate per-user charge that is on by default.
How are engagement survey results kept anonymous?
Vendors typically hide results for groups below a minimum size and separate comments from names. Workleap describes anonymous feedback as a core feature, and Quantum Workplace lets administrators choose attributed, confidential or anonymous feedback for pulse surveys. Ask each vendor for its reporting threshold before launch.
