Best Email Marketing Software (2026): Top 10 Compared

Updated October 2026By StatWharf Editorial10 vendorsMethodology

Email marketing software stores a contact list, builds and sends campaigns and automated sequences, and reports on opens, clicks and revenue. The ten products below split three ways. Mailchimp, Constant Contact, Brevo and GetResponse are general small-business platforms that add SMS, social, landing pages or webinars around email. Klaviyo and Omnisend are built around online-store data such as orders, browsing and abandoned carts. MailerLite, Kit and AWeber focus on newsletters, creators and small lists, and ActiveCampaign sits between email marketing and full marketing automation with a CRM attached.

Order is not a ranking. How entries are ordered.

These comparisons draw on public product information, not hands-on testing of every tool. Source records identify available references and checks; missing evidence is marked. Buyer fit is an editorial assessment, not a measured performance score. How to use this research.

Email marketing software lets a business collect subscribers, design campaigns, automate follow-up messages and measure what each email earns. Buyers range from solo creators sending a weekly newsletter to online stores running abandoned-cart and post-purchase sequences, and to small businesses and nonprofits announcing events and offers. Deliverability testing tools, email finders and transactional-only email APIs are separate categories and are not covered here.

The comparison below covers ten products in three groups: general small-business platforms, ecommerce-focused tools and creator or newsletter tools. Pricing comes from each vendor’s pricing page, checked on 12 October 2026, in USD. Several vendors displayed introductory discounts on that date, and each profile states the offer alongside the regular price where the page showed one. Klaviyo produces paid prices only in an interactive estimator, and GetResponse’s plan table rendered in a regional currency, so its entry records the USD starting price stated in its billing FAQ.

Vendor details and trade-offs

Mailchimp

smbmailchimp.com ↗
Consider forSmall and mid-sized businesses that want email campaigns, automation flows and forms in one tool, with plans that scale by contact count, as Mailchimp's pricing page and plan documentation describe
Pricing notesFree covers up to 250 contacts. The USD pricing page showed Essentials at $8.69 a month for 500 contacts, Standard at $13.00 a month for 500 contacts and Premium at $260.06 a month for 10,000 contacts, each at 50% off for the first 12 months, after which the regular tier price applies. Price rises with contact count, and overages apply above contact or send limits. The pricing page tooltip gave the Free plan 1,000 sends a month, while the plan help article listed 500 (checked Oct 2026)
Feature to evaluateSend limits are set as a multiple of the contact limit: 10 times on Essentials, 12 on Standard and 15 on Premium

Mailchimp sells four Marketing plans: Free, Essentials, Standard and Premium. Its help documentation explains that a plan type and a pricing tier together set the monthly bill, and that the tier sets both the contact limit and the sending limit. If the contact total rises above the limit during a billing cycle, Mailchimp adds a charge rather than stopping service.

Essentials includes three audiences, three seats, automation flows of up to four steps, A/B testing and 24/7 email and chat support, and stores up to 50,000 contacts. Standard raises this to five audiences and five seats, adds flow templates, pre-built and advanced segments, custom-coded templates, multivariate testing and custom reports, and stores up to 100,000 contacts. Premium adds unlimited audiences and seats, phone support and screen-share support, and starts at 10,000 contacts.

A Pay As You Go plan, with Essentials features, lets infrequent senders buy email credits instead of a monthly subscription.

Potential strengths

  • Free plan and a Pay As You Go option for infrequent senders
  • Standard adds multivariate testing, custom-coded templates and advanced segmentation

Trade-offs

  • The displayed prices are 12-month introductory figures, not the renewal price
  • Phone support and unlimited seats are reserved for Premium, which starts at 10,000 contacts

Klaviyo

mid-marketklaviyo.com ↗
Consider forEcommerce and retail brands that want email, SMS and other channels driven by customer and order data, as Klaviyo's product and pricing pages describe
Pricing notesA free plan covers up to 250 active profiles, 500 email sends a month, $5 of mobile messages a month and $5 of Composer usage a month. Paid pricing is built in an interactive estimator by product and active profile count, and no paid figure appeared in the page text at the time of the check. Klaviyo states that pricing tiers are based on profile count (checked Oct 2026)
Feature to evaluateEmail, SMS, RCS, WhatsApp, mobile app and social channels sit on one customer data platform with more than 350 integrations

Klaviyo describes itself as a B2C CRM. Its platform groups Klaviyo Marketing, Klaviyo Service, Klaviyo Analytics and the Klaviyo Data Platform, and its marketing channels include email, SMS, RCS, mobile app, WhatsApp and social messaging. The product navigation lists segmentation, personalisation, templates, reviews and a helpdesk, plus Composer, which creates and audits flows and campaigns from a prompt, and a Customer Agent for AI-assisted support.

The company's resources are aimed at ecommerce and retail, with seasonal toolkits for Black Friday and Cyber Monday and a global ecommerce playbook, alongside pages for gyms and restaurants. Its app marketplace lists more than 350 integrations, and developers can build on Klaviyo's APIs.

The free plan can be used indefinitely while an account stays at or under 250 active profiles and 500 monthly email sends. Above that, Klaviyo's estimator calculates a price from the chosen products and profile count. Klaviyo defines active profiles as contacts who may receive marketing emails.

Potential strengths

  • Free plan includes both email and a small mobile messaging allowance
  • Marketplace of more than 350 apps, including shipping, loyalty and point-of-sale tools

Trade-offs

  • No paid price is published as text; buyers must use the estimator
  • Pricing is counted on active profiles, so list growth raises cost directly

Brevo

smbbrevo.com ↗
Consider forSmall businesses and developers that send both marketing campaigns and application-triggered emails, as Brevo's pricing page and FAQ describe
Pricing notesStructured data on the pricing page lists Free at $0, Starter at $9 a month, Standard at $18 a month and Professional at $499 a month, with Enterprise at a custom price. Starter begins at 5,000 emails a month and Professional at 150,000 emails a month with 10 seats. The Free plan allows up to 300 emails a day once an account is approved. Yearly billing is shown at 10% off, and pay-as-you-go email credits do not expire (checked Oct 2026)
Feature to evaluatePrices by email volume rather than contact count, and includes transactional email APIs, SMTP and webhooks on all plans

Brevo states it has more than 600,000 customers. Its pricing differs from most tools here because plans are sized by monthly email volume rather than by stored contacts.

Starter includes the drag-and-drop editor, templates, an AI content generator, advanced segmentation, forms, basic reporting and email support in six languages. Standard adds unlimited multi-step automation workflows, A/B testing, advanced reporting with click heatmaps, send-time optimisation, web and event tracking, one landing page and removal of the Brevo footer. Professional adds WhatsApp, popups, web and mobile push, 10 seats, contact scoring, AI segmentation, phone support and three hours a year of deliverability specialist support. Enterprise, for companies with more than a million contacts, adds multi-account management, custom objects, a dedicated IP, SSO and a loyalty engine.

Brevo's FAQ states that all plans include transactional email features, including APIs, SMTP and outbound webhooks, which lets one account handle receipts and password resets as well as campaigns.

Potential strengths

  • Low published entry prices with a free plan that needs no credit card
  • Pay-as-you-go credits suit occasional senders

Trade-offs

  • The Professional plan jumps to $499 a month
  • WhatsApp, push and multi-user access require Professional

ActiveCampaign

mid-marketactivecampaign.com ↗
Consider forSmall and mid-sized businesses that build multi-step automated journeys and connect email to a CRM, as ActiveCampaign's pricing and email marketing pages describe
Pricing notesStarter starts at $15 a month, Plus at $49, Pro at $79 and Enterprise at $145, each billed annually, with the price set by the selected contact count from 1,000 contacts upward. Starter and Plus include one user, Pro three and Enterprise five. Monthly email sends are 10 times the contact limit on Starter and Plus, 12 times on Pro and 15 times on Enterprise. WhatsApp plans are sold separately (checked Oct 2026)
Feature to evaluateAutomation builder with unlimited actions from Plus, plus custom objects and SSO on Enterprise

ActiveCampaign sells email marketing and marketing automation in four plans. All include Active Intelligence, its AI feature set, with limits on the lower plans. The pricing page states a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Starter covers email marketing with limited segmentation and up to five actions per automation, plus standard CRM and ecommerce integrations. Plus adds unlimited automation actions, standard segmentation and landing pages. Pro adds advanced segmentation, premium ecommerce integrations, predictive and conditional content, and attribution and conversion tracking. Enterprise adds premium segmentation, custom objects, single sign-on and a dedicated account team.

Separate WhatsApp plans and a combined email and WhatsApp option are available for teams that message customers on both channels. Because prices scale with contacts, the starting figures apply only to the lowest tier, and buyers should run the calculator at their real list size. ActiveCampaign suits buyers for whom automation logic matters more than template design or free-plan limits.

Potential strengths

  • Published starting prices for every plan
  • Automation depth that grows by plan rather than requiring a separate product

Trade-offs

  • Starter limits automations to five actions and offers limited segmentation
  • Only one user on Starter and Plus

Prepaying 12 months saves up to 15%, and nonprofits can save up to 30%. Premium includes 500 SMS messages; Lite and Standard can add SMS from $10 a month for up to 500 messages. Feature to evaluateFree plan includes campaigns, automations, a website, a landing page, signup forms and all three email editors

MailerLite sells four plans: Free, Comfort, Power and Enterprise. Its pricing FAQ states that pricing is based on usage, not feature access, so customers pay for subscribers and sending volume while the main tools are included on every paid plan.

The Free plan includes up to 250 subscribers, two user seats and 2,500 monthly emails, with campaigns, automations, a website, a landing page, signup forms and all three editors: drag-and-drop, custom HTML and a simple text editor. How to choose a vendor

Price the list you will have in a year, not today

Almost every vendor here prices by contact or subscriber count, so the advertised starting price applies only to the smallest tier. AWeber publishes its full table: Plus costs $30 a month for 500 subscribers and $135 a month for 10,000. Mailchimp's Premium starts at 10,000 contacts, Omnisend's Pro at 2,500. Check whether the vendor counts unsubscribed or inactive contacts, and how it handles overages, before comparing headline figures.

Separate introductory offers from list prices

Several pricing pages showed time-limited discounts on 12 October 2026. Mailchimp displayed 50% off for 12 months, Omnisend 30% off for three months, and Kit an extra 25% off the first year of Pro. Annual prepayment saves 15% at Constant Contact, 17% at Kit, 18% at GetResponse and 10% at Brevo. Budget against the renewal price.

Match the data model to the business

Online stores benefit from tools that read order and product data, which is the design centre of Klaviyo and Omnisend. Creators selling newsletters or digital products have dedicated features in Kit, GetResponse's Creator plan and AWeber. Businesses that need a sales pipeline next to email should look at ActiveCampaign or Brevo's sales add-ons. Teams sending transactional email from an application can use Brevo's API and SMTP on every plan.

Frequently asked questions

What is email marketing software?

Email marketing software stores a list of contacts who agreed to receive email, provides editors and templates for building campaigns, sends them through infrastructure designed for bulk delivery, and reports on opens, clicks and sales. Most products also run automated sequences, such as welcome series or abandoned-cart emails, and add signup forms, landing pages and segmentation. Many now bundle SMS and other channels.

How much does email marketing software cost?

Entry prices on this page run from free to about $30 a month for a small list. Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Brevo, MailerLite, Kit and Omnisend have free plans. Brevo's Starter is $9 a month, Constant Contact's Lite starts at $10.20 a month billed annually, MailerLite's Comfort at $12, ActiveCampaign's Starter at $15, GetResponse at $19 and AWeber's Lite at $15 monthly. Prices rise with contact count, so a 10,000-contact list costs several times the entry price.

Which email marketing software has the best free plan?

It depends on the limit that matters. Kit's free plan allows up to 10,000 subscribers with unlimited broadcasts but no automations. MailerLite's free plan includes automations, a website and 2,500 emails a month but caps the list at 250 subscribers. Brevo allows 300 emails a day without a contact-count limit stated on its pricing page. Mailchimp, Klaviyo and Omnisend cap free accounts at 250 contacts or profiles.

Which email marketing tools suit ecommerce stores?

Klaviyo and Omnisend are designed around store data, with product recommendations, purchase-based segmentation and SMS. Omnisend offers free migration and 24/7 support on all plans, while Klaviyo provides a wider set of channels and a large app marketplace. Mailchimp, Brevo, ActiveCampaign and Constant Contact also offer ecommerce integrations and automations within broader platforms.

What is the difference between email marketing software and marketing automation software?

Email marketing software focuses on campaigns and automated email to a contact list. Marketing automation software adds lead scoring, multi-channel journeys, CRM synchronisation and sales handoff for longer B2B cycles. The categories overlap: ActiveCampaign, Brevo and Klaviyo appear in both, while tools such as Kit, MailerLite and AWeber concentrate on email to subscribers.

Do these tools charge by contacts or by emails sent?

Most charge by stored contacts or subscribers and set a monthly send limit as a multiple of that number, for example 10 to 15 times at Mailchimp and ActiveCampaign. Brevo instead prices by monthly email volume, and GetResponse and Omnisend's Pro plan include unlimited sends at a given list size. Buyers with large but rarely emailed lists may pay less under volume-based pricing.

Are the prices on this page introductory offers?

Some are. On 12 October 2026, Mailchimp displayed 50% off for the first 12 months, Omnisend 30% off for the first three months, Kit 25% off the first year of Pro and AWeber a discounted setup fee for Done For You. Each profile states the offer and, where the page showed it, the regular price. Renewal prices should be confirmed on the vendor's site before purchase.

How was this comparison compiled?

StatWharf Editorial compared ten email marketing tools using each vendor's public pricing page, product pages and, for Mailchimp, its plan documentation, checked on 12 October 2026. Prices reflect what those sources showed in USD on that date. No vendor confirmed its entry, no product was tested hands-on, and the order of vendors is not a ranking.
