Best Affordable Email Marketing Software (2026): Top 10 Compared

Updated October 2026By StatWharf Editorial10 vendorsMethodology

Every product on this page publishes a free tier and a paid entry price on its own pricing page, checked on 19 October 2026. Free plans differ mainly in their limits: some cap subscribers or contacts, some cap monthly or daily sends, and most cap seats or branding. Paid entry prices are quoted for the smallest list tier, usually 500 or 1,000 subscribers, and rise with list size. Brevo prices by monthly email volume rather than list size. The entry tier is rarely the tier a growing list stays on, so each profile also lists where automation, A/B testing and branding removal begin.

Order is not a ranking. How entries are ordered.

These comparisons draw on public product information, not hands-on testing of every tool. Source records identify available references and checks; missing evidence is marked. Buyer fit is an editorial assessment, not a measured performance score. How to use this research.

Affordable email marketing software lets a small business, creator or nonprofit collect subscribers, send campaigns and automate follow-up without paying for an enterprise marketing suite. This page applies one inclusion rule: each vendor publishes a free plan and a low paid entry price on its own pricing page, and every pricing page was checked on 19 October 2026. Prices appear as the vendors publish them, in USD with billing terms and the list size each price applies to, and the order of entries is not a price ranking.

The products split into three groups. Brevo and Mailjet price their paid plans by monthly email volume. MailerLite, Mailchimp, Sender, EmailOctopus, Zoho Campaigns and Benchmark Email price by subscriber or contact count from a 500- or 1,000-contact entry tier. Kit and beehiiv are creator and newsletter platforms whose free plans cover larger lists and whose paid tiers add monetisation. Free plans differ mostly in subscriber caps, send caps, seats and branding, so each profile lists those limits and notes where automation begins. Buyers who need ecommerce-led automation or a wider vendor set can compare the main email marketing software comparison.

Brevo

Consider forSmall businesses wanting email and SMS priced by send volume
Pricing notesFree plan with up to 300 emails per day; Starter from $9/mo billed monthly or $96.96/yr billed yearly, from 5,000 emails per month; Standard from $18/mo or $194.04/yr (checked Oct 2026)
Feature to evaluatePaid plans priced by monthly email volume rather than list size

Brevo, formerly Sendinblue, combines email campaigns with SMS, transactional messaging and a sales CRM. Its pricing page sets paid marketing plans by the number of emails sent each month rather than by the number of contacts stored, which changes the cost profile for businesses with large lists and infrequent sends.

The Free plan is described as free forever with no credit card needed. Once Brevo approves the account for sending, it allows up to 300 emails per day. Starter is $9 per month on monthly billing or $96.96 per year on yearly billing, from 5,000 emails per month. It includes a drag-and-drop editor, templates, an AI content generator, advanced segmentation, forms and basic reporting, with SMS credits sold separately. Standard, at $18 per month or $194.04 per year, adds unlimited automated workflows, A/B testing, advanced reporting with click heatmaps, send-time optimisation, web and event tracking, one landing page and removal of the Brevo footer. Professional is $499 per month from 150,000 emails and adds WhatsApp, pop-ups, push notifications and ten seats.

Brevo suits small businesses that send to a large list occasionally and want SMS in the same tool. Teams that need automated sequences should price Standard rather than Starter.

Potential strengths

  • Free plan needs no credit card
  • Starter includes advanced segmentation, forms and an AI content generator
  • Email, SMS and transactional messages in one account

Trade-offs

  • Free plan is limited to 300 emails per day

The Free plan covers up to 250 subscribers, 2,500 emails per month and two user seats. It includes campaigns, three active automations of up to five steps, one website, one landing page, three active forms, one digital product or booking, and the drag-and-drop, custom HTML and simple editors. Comfort is $12 per month on monthly billing or $10.80 per month billed yearly for 500 subscribers, rising to $19 or $17.10 at 1,000 subscribers. It allows 50 automations, ten forms, ten sites, five digital products, three seats and removal of the MailerLite logo. Mailchimp is an email marketing platform for small businesses, with campaigns, automation flows, forms, landing pages and reporting in one account. The marketing pricing page sells Free, Essentials, Standard and Premium plans, each priced by contact tier.

The Free plan, described on the page as for businesses under 250 contacts, includes one seat, one audience, a maximum of 250 contacts and up to 500 sends per month, with no more than 250 a day. On 19 October 2026 the USD page showed paid plans at 50 percent off for 12 months: Essentials at $8.84 per month and Standard at $13.24 per month for 500 contacts, and Premium at $264.78 per month at its 10,000-contact starting tier. After 12 months the regular tier price applies. Standard allows 6,000 emails a month at 500 contacts, and its send limit is 12 times the maximum contact count. Overages apply above contact or send limits, and onboarding is included with Standard and Premium.

Feature to evaluateSame feature set across plans; send limit set at 10 times contacts

Benchmark Email is an email marketing platform for small businesses, with a drag-and-drop editor, signup forms, contact management, automation and list verification. Its pricing page carries the line "Every Feature in Every Plan", so plans differ by limits rather than by features.

The Free plan includes 500 contacts, up to 2,500 email sends per month, one user, one sending domain, two API keys and 150 AI credits per month, with Benchmark branding on emails and forms. Pro covers 1,000 to 100,000 contacts. At 1,000 contacts it is $19 per month on monthly billing or $16 per month on annual billing. Pro sends up to ten times the contact limit, includes one user with additional users at $15 per month each, and allows ten domains, ten API keys and 1,000 AI credits per month. Branding becomes removable, and Pro includes verification of one list up to the plan size. Lists above 100,000 contacts are quoted under Enterprise, which adds premium support for large senders.

Pricing notesFree for up to 2,500 subscribers with unlimited email sends; Lite $49/mo and Pro $95/mo on yearly billing, as shown at the 1,000-subscriber pricing view (checked Oct 2026)
Feature to evaluateNewsletter platform with paid subscriptions and an ad network

beehiiv is a newsletter platform for creators and media brands that combines email publishing with a website, a podcast feed, a recommendation network and monetisation tools. Its pricing page lists four plans and a toggle between yearly and monthly billing.

The Free plan, described as the basics for creators just getting started, covers up to 2,500 subscribers with unlimited email sends, one team seat, one guest author, one publication and a 30-day analytics window. It includes email templates, landing pages, the recommendation network, an API and integrations. Lite is $49 per month on yearly billing in the 1,000-subscriber pricing view and supports up to 100,000 subscribers, two seats and three publications. It adds paid subscriptions with a 0 percent take rate, ad monetisation, automations, polls and A/B testing. Pro is $95 per month on yearly billing, supports up to 250,000 subscribers and ten seats, and adds branding removal, webinars, advanced analytics, webhooks, dynamic content and 24/7 priority support. Enterprise is quoted and adds SSO and dedicated IPs.

  • Paid subscriptions at 0% take rate on Lite

Trade-offs

How to choose a vendor

Price the list size expected in a year

Almost every vendor here prices by subscriber or contact count, and the entry figure applies only to the smallest tier. MailerLite's Comfort plan rises from $12 a month at 500 subscribers to $19 at 1,000 on monthly billing, and EmailOctopus Pro rises from $10 to $13.50. Price the tier for the list the business expects to hold, not the list it holds today.

Read the send limit as well as the subscriber limit

Free plans cap sends as tightly as they cap lists. Mailchimp's free plan allows 500 sends a month with 250 a day, Brevo's 300 emails a day and MailerLite's 2,500 a month. A list that fits the subscriber cap can still exceed the send cap with weekly campaigns.

Separate introductory offers from renewal prices

On 19 October 2026 Mailchimp displayed 50% off for 12 months, Sender 30% off the first year for first-time users, and Kit an extra 25% off the first year of Pro. Budget against the price that applies after the offer ends.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as affordable email marketing software on this page?

Each vendor on this page publishes a free plan and a paid entry price on its own pricing page, and each page was checked on 19 October 2026. Affordability here describes the published free tier and the price of the smallest paid tier, not total cost. Total cost depends on list size, send volume, seats and the tier that holds the features a business needs.

How do the free plans differ?

The free plans cap different things. Kit's covers up to 10,000 subscribers, Sender's and EmailOctopus's 2,500 subscribers, beehiiv's 2,500 subscribers with unlimited sends, Zoho Campaigns' 2,000 contacts, Mailjet's 1,000 contacts, Benchmark's 500 contacts, and MailerLite's and Mailchimp's 250. Brevo's free plan caps sends at 300 a day rather than listing a contact cap on its pricing page. Seats, branding and automation limits also differ.

Why does the entry price differ from what a growing list costs?

Most vendors here price by subscriber or contact count, and the entry figure applies to the smallest tier, usually 500 or 1,000 subscribers. On the pages checked, MailerLite Comfort rises from $12 to $19 a month on monthly billing between 500 and 1,000 subscribers, and EmailOctopus Pro rises from $10 to $13.50. Features such as automation also move up a tier at Brevo, Kit and Mailjet.

Should a buyer choose annual or monthly billing?

Annual billing lowers the rate on most pages here. Zoho Campaigns states a 25 percent saving, Kit 17 percent, and Brevo, MailerLite, EmailOctopus and Mailjet 10 percent. Monthly billing costs more but avoids a year's commitment while a list is still small. Several vendors also show first-year offers, so the renewal price is the figure to budget against.

Which entries price by send volume rather than list size?

Brevo sets its paid marketing plans by monthly email volume, starting at 5,000 emails a month on Starter. Mailjet also sets plans by email volume and caps contacts only on its Free and Starter tiers. The other vendors price by subscriber or contact count, with a monthly send allowance attached to each tier.

What extra costs should a budget-led buyer check?

Several charges sit outside the plan price. Brevo sells SMS credits separately. Zoho Campaigns sells WhatsApp, SMS and dedicated IPs as add-ons. Benchmark Email charges $15 a month for each additional Pro user. Mailchimp applies overages above contact or send limits, and MailerLite notes that prices may be subject to tax. Introductory discounts at Mailchimp, Sender and Kit end after the first year.

Which tools suit a newsletter rather than a store or small business?

Kit and beehiiv are built for creators and publishers. Kit's free plan reaches 10,000 subscribers and supports selling digital products, and beehiiv adds paid subscriptions and ad monetisation from its Lite plan. EmailOctopus and MailerLite also suit newsletters with simple list-based pricing. Brevo, Sender, Zoho Campaigns and Benchmark Email are positioned for small businesses running promotions.

How does this page relate to the main email marketing software comparison?

This page applies one inclusion rule, a published free tier and low entry price that could be source-checked on 19 October 2026, so its roster differs from the general email marketing comparison. Four products appear on both pages. Buyers who need ecommerce-led automation, a CRM or a wider set of vendors should also review the main email marketing software comparison.

How should this comparison be used?

Use the documented fit, pricing, list limits, source dates and trade-offs to build a shortlist. Then confirm current prices on each vendor's pricing page at the list size the business expects to reach, check the send and seat limits of the tier that covers the required features, and test each finalist on its free plan with a real campaign before committing.
