These comparisons draw on public product information, not hands-on testing of every tool. Source records identify available references and checks; missing evidence is marked. Buyer fit is an editorial assessment, not a measured performance score. How to use this research.

Debt collection software manages accounts that are past normal billing into recovery. It records debtors and balances, runs contact across phone, letters, email and SMS, takes payments and payment plans, and keeps the audit trail that consumer collection rules require. Agencies also need to manage many creditor clients, commissions and trust accounts.

The eight products compared here fall into three groups. C&R Software’s Debt Manager, Katabat, Receive by InDebted and Debtrak are enterprise platforms for banks, lenders, utilities, government bodies and large agencies. Collect! and Simplicity Collect are agency systems with published pricing. Skit.ai and Prodigal are AI platforms that automate outreach and support collectors on top of an existing system. Invoice-to-cash and dunning tools for business receivables are covered separately. All pricing notes were checked in September 2026. Entries with dated source checks appear first. That order records research readiness. It is not a measure of product quality or a ranking.

Vendor details and trade-offs

C&R Software Debt Manager

enterprisecrsoftware.com ↗
Consider forBanks and large lenders that need an enterprise collections system of record with a configurable decision engine and add-on AI, communications and self-service modules
Pricing notesNo public price list; quote-based (checked Sep 2026)
Feature to evaluateDebt Manager is extended by named add-ons, including Zelas AI for interaction insights, FitComms for omnichannel messaging, Cara AI for chatbot self-service and SpringFour for hardship resources

C&R Software sells Debt Manager, an enterprise debt collection and decisioning platform. The vendor's site positions it for the world's larger banks and describes its purpose as helping lenders recover more, reduce risk and reach fairer outcomes across the credit lifecycle. C&R states that more than $8 trillion is managed on Debt Manager as a system of record. That is a vendor-published figure, not an independent measurement.

The core product combines two functions. The first is a decision engine that turns account and customer data into treatment decisions, which C&R describes as business-friendly, meaning collections strategy staff can configure it rather than relying on developers. The second is an all-in-one collections workflow that automates queues and tasks for collectors.

Around that core, C&R lists a set of add-ons. Zelas AI applies AI-generated insights to customer interactions. Callout Services connects Debt Manager to other systems through configuration rather than custom code, and C&R claims it can cut integration time by up to 75%. FitComms handles personalised messaging across the channels a customer prefers. Cara AI is a chatbot for round-the-clock self-service. SpringFour connects customers in hardship to more than 25,000 vetted financial resources nationwide. FitPortal gives third parties, such as outside agencies, controlled access to accounts. AYDA is a real-time intelligence hub for tracking performance across the customer lifecycle.

The modular design matters for buyers. A lender can start with the core platform and add AI or self-service later, but each add-on is a separate scoping and contract question.

Pricing is not published, and buyers request a quote. Debt Manager fits banks, card issuers and large consumer lenders running first-party collections at scale, with compliance and decisioning requirements that simpler agency systems do not cover.

Potential strengths

  • Decision engine and collections workflow sit in one system of record
  • Modular add-ons let lenders add AI, messaging and partner access in stages

Trade-offs

  • No list prices are published
  • Scope is sized for banks and large lenders rather than small agencies

Katabat

enterprisekatabat.com ↗
Consider forBanks, lenders and enterprises that want a cloud, digital-first collections platform with an omnichannel contact strategy engine
Pricing notesNo public price list; demo and quote on request (checked Sep 2026)
Feature to evaluateA strategy engine that combines decision trees and workflow in one tool to drive personalised contact across email, SMS, voice and print

Katabat is a cloud-based debt management and collections platform owned by Finvi, which also owns Simplicity Collect, covered further down this page. Finvi describes Katabat as a digital-native, omnichannel, full-suite collections system for banks, lenders and enterprises, and states that lenders have used it for more than 14 years.

The product is built around two capabilities. The first is omnichannel orchestration: lenders configure contact through email, SMS, voice, print and other channels, and the platform aims to reach each customer through the channel that customer prefers. The second is a strategy engine that combines decision trees and workflow in one place, so collections teams can design personalised customer journeys, settlement offers and messaging tone without separate tools for rules and process.

The vendor's site includes client comments and case summaries. One quote comes from a senior executive at an unnamed top-20 mortgage lender who cites compliance as a deciding factor and describes integration with legacy systems as straightforward. Another case describes humm group, where embedded workflow and decisioning cut hardship application approval from about two weeks to five minutes. A further case reports a client reducing delinquencies by 150 basis points after side-by-side comparison with other solutions. These are vendor-published results.

For buyers, the relevant distinction is that Katabat is a lender's own collections system. It replaces or modernises the in-house platform a bank uses to manage early and late-stage delinquency, hardship and settlement, rather than serving as a system for a third-party agency working many client portfolios.

Pricing is not published. Buyers request a demo and quote. Katabat fits banks, card issuers, mortgage servicers and consumer lenders that want digital self-service and configurable contact strategy in a cloud platform.

Potential strengths

  • Cloud-based and built around digital, customer-preferred channels
  • Vendor cites mortgage servicing and consumer lending deployments

Trade-offs

  • No list prices are published
  • Designed for lenders' first-party operations rather than contingency agencies

Receive by InDebted

enterpriseindebted.co ↗
Consider forEnterprise lenders, fintechs, telcos, utilities and government bodies that want AI-native first-party collections with vendor-managed implementation
Pricing notesNo public price list; custom demo and quote (checked Sep 2026)
Feature to evaluateWhite-glove rollout that starts with a pilot, with specialists handling configuration and integration, and a managed third-party service (Collect) from the same company

Receive is an AI-native first-party collections product from InDebted. The former receeve.com domain now redirects to InDebted's Receive page. InDebted describes Receive as a solution for enterprise lenders, fintechs, telecommunications companies, utilities and government organisations that collect their own overdue accounts.

The product is organised around three outcomes. Digital-first experiences cover self-service journeys personalised to how customers prefer to engage. Integrated strategies aim to focus collector effort where it matters most. Advanced decisioning uses predictive models and real-time data to build and adjust strategies. InDebted cites a 35% reduction in operational costs and a 15% increase in cash collected. These are vendor-published figures without stated methodology.

Governance features are a central part of the positioning. InDebted states that Receive gives teams control over strategies, workflows, permissions and AI governance, with full audit trails, and that it is compliant with ISO 27001, PCI and GDPR. That emphasis reflects the regulated sectors it targets.

Implementation is presented as a managed service. InDebted describes a pilot to prove value early, specialist-led onboarding that covers setup, configuration and technical integration, and ongoing optimisation ranging from monthly guidance to continuous support. This suits buyers without a large internal collections strategy team. Buyers who prefer to configure everything themselves can ask how much control they keep.

For creditors that prefer to outsource instead, InDebted also offers Collect, a fully managed third-party service positioned as an alternative to traditional agencies. That service is an agency relationship rather than software, and is not the subject of this entry.

Pricing is not published. Receive fits large regulated creditors modernising first-party collections that want the vendor closely involved in setup.

Potential strengths

  • Covers the full first-party journey from self-service to decisioning
  • States ISO 27001, PCI and GDPR compliance

Trade-offs

  • No list prices are published
  • Enterprise focus leaves little for small creditors

Debtrak

enterprisedebtrak.com ↗
Consider forGovernment agencies, banks, insurers and multi-client collection agencies, particularly in Australia, the UK and New Zealand, that need a highly configurable platform with data residency options
Pricing notesQuote-based; licensed per operator per month, with the per-seat rate falling as seat count rises; implementation scoped separately (checked Sep 2026)
Feature to evaluateMore than 1,500 configurable parameters, with production, disaster recovery, test and integration environments included in the platform fee

Debtrak is enterprise debt collection software for high-volume consumer recovery. The vendor states that it serves government, banking, insurance and debt collection agency customers across Australia, the United Kingdom and New Zealand. It reports managing more than 40 million consumer accounts and processing over $2 billion in debt transactions a year. These are vendor-published figures.

The platform covers workflow, account management, payment plans, commission and trust accounting, hardship handling and a compliance rules engine. Debtrak states that it has more than 1,500 configurable parameters and no per-feature upsells. It gives examples of the models this supports: a multi-client agency with thirty commission structures, or a government body running a dozen agency portfolios on one platform. Engagement runs across SMS, email, letters, phone, a web portal and voice AI through a component called IntelliEdge, with a debtor self-service portal and a client performance portal included.

Security and hosting are a notable part of the offer. Debtrak states ISO 27001:2022 certification, IRAP alignment, full audit trails, Australian data residency and a bring-your-own-cloud deployment for regulated and government workloads.

The pricing page is unusually specific about structure while still not stating a number. Debtrak is licensed per operator per month, and the per-seat rate steps down as seat count rises. Cost therefore follows team size rather than the number of accounts. Production, disaster recovery, test and integration environments are included in the platform fee. Implementation, data migration and integration are scoped separately in a discovery phase. The page describes bands for mid-size teams, enterprises and agencies, and government.

Debtrak fits agencies, lenders and public bodies with complex commission or portfolio structures and strict hosting requirements.

Potential strengths

  • Per-operator licensing keeps cost independent of debt book size
  • ISO 27001:2022 certified with Australian data residency and bring-your-own-cloud options

Trade-offs

  • No per-seat figure is published
  • Implementation and migration are priced separately after discovery

Collect! by Comtech Systems

mid-marketcollect.org ↗
Consider forCollection agencies, credit unions and billing offices that want a full receivables management system with published cloud pricing and every module included
Pricing notesCloud: Entrepreneur from $699/month (3 users, up to 100,000 debtor accounts), Professional from $2,400/month (10 users, 500,000 accounts), Corporate from $4,995/month (20 users, unrestricted accounts); additional users $104/month; annual plans from $6,990/year (checked Sep 2026)
Feature to evaluateAll cloud subscriptions include every module, including credit bureau reporting, SMS and dialer, skip and score, client and consumer portals and letter automation

Collect! is receivables management software from Comtech Systems. The vendor describes it as an all-in-one solution for collection agencies, credit unions and billing offices. Its site lists credit bureau reporting, SMS and dialer integration, skip tracing and scoring, client and consumer portals and letter automation among the core capabilities.

Collect! stands out in this category for publishing its full cloud price list. There are three editions. Entrepreneur starts at $699 a month, includes three users, allows up to ten concurrent users and supports up to 100,000 debtor accounts. Professional starts at $2,400 a month with ten users included, no concurrent user cap and up to 500,000 debtor accounts. Corporate starts at $4,995 a month with twenty users included and no cap on users or debtor accounts. On every edition, additional users cost $104 a month. All editions allow multiple databases.

Annual billing is also offered. Entrepreneur starts at $6,990 a year, Professional at $24,000 and Corporate at $49,950, with additional users at $1,040 a year. That works out to roughly two months free compared with monthly billing.

Comtech states that all cloud subscriptions include every module, free updates, help desk access and Member Center benefits. A small agency on the entry edition therefore gets the same functional scope as a larger one, with limits set by users and account volume rather than features. The cloud option also removes the need for in-house servers and IT staff.

The published limits make sizing straightforward. An agency expecting more than 100,000 active debtor accounts or more than ten simultaneous collectors moves to Professional.

Collect! fits established collection agencies and credit union recovery departments that want predictable, published pricing and a broad feature set in one subscription.

Potential strengths

  • Full cloud price list is public, including per-user add-on cost
  • No module-by-module upsell on cloud editions

Trade-offs

  • Entrepreneur edition caps concurrent users at 10
  • Entry price is higher than some small-agency tools

Simplicity Collect

smbfinvi.com ↗
Consider forSmall and growing collection agencies and collection law firms that want low-cost, web-based agency software with unlimited clients
Pricing notesEssential $399/month (3 users, 50k accounts, $699 start-up), Scale $599/month (10 users, 250k accounts, $999 start-up), Expansion $999/month (25 users, 600k accounts, $1,999 start-up), Enterprise $1,999/month (50 users, unlimited accounts, $2,999 start-up); extra users $99 each (checked Sep 2026)
Feature to evaluateEvery plan includes unlimited clients, with tiers set by users and account volume, and a consumer portal accepting card and ACH payments

Simplicity Collect is web-based collection agency software owned by Finvi, the same company behind Katabat. Where Katabat targets lenders, Simplicity Collect is aimed at agencies. The vendor says the platform lets agencies manage unlimited clients, cases and staff.

The feature list on the product page covers the core of agency work. Cases can be imported and exported in bulk. A consumer portal lets debtors pay by credit card or ACH. A client portal gives creditors visibility of their placements. A report builder, a bulk account manager and skip tracing are included. The software is web-based, which the vendor presents as a way to avoid server and IT costs. Integration partners are listed for phone systems and dialers, including TCN and Vaspian, as well as skip tracing, e-signature, letter fulfilment and accounting.

Pricing is published in four monthly tiers, and every tier includes unlimited clients. SimplicityEssential costs $399 a month with three users, 50,000 accounts, basic support and a $699 start-up cost. SimplicityScale costs $599 a month with ten users, 250,000 accounts, enhanced support and a $999 start-up cost. SimplicityExpansion costs $999 a month with 25 users, 600,000 accounts and a $1,999 start-up cost. SimplicityEnterprise costs $1,999 a month with 50 users, unlimited accounts, VIP support and a $2,999 start-up cost. Additional users cost $99 each on every plan.

Compared with Collect!, the entry price is lower and the user allowances are larger at each step, while the account limits differ. A fair comparison uses expected user count and account volume, not the headline price.

Simplicity Collect fits small agencies, collection law firms and growing multi-client operations that want published pricing and a short path to a working system.

Potential strengths

  • Lowest published entry price among the agency systems on this page
  • Unlimited clients on every plan suits multi-client agencies

Trade-offs

  • One-time start-up fee on every plan
  • Basic support only on the entry plan

Skit.ai

specialistskit.ai ↗
Consider forCollection agencies, lenders and law firms that want voice AI and digital agents to work early-stage and high-volume accounts under built-in US collections compliance rules
Pricing notesNo public price list; demo and quote on request (checked Sep 2026)
Feature to evaluateMaps its controls to FDCPA, TCPA and Regulation F, including the 7-in-7 call cap, consent tracking, DNC checks and quiet-hour enforcement

Skit.ai sells AI debt collection software centred on voice AI, with digital channels such as email alongside it. The vendor states that its models are shaped by billions of real collection conversations and describes the product as a way to raise recovery while reducing collector effort.

Compliance is the most detailed part of the product site. Skit.ai lists how it applies the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (frequency caps, prohibited timing windows, third-party disclosure rules and dispute rights), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (consent tracking, do-not-call registry checks, quiet-hour enforcement and per-channel frequency caps) and the CFPB's Regulation F (the 7-in-7 call cap, validation notices and limited-content messages). It also lists UDAAP controls such as script review and required disclosure prompts, HIPAA and HITECH safeguards for healthcare portfolios, SOC 2, PCI DSS with card data suppressed from transcripts, and ISO/IEC 27001. For a voice AI product that places calls to consumers, these controls are central to any evaluation.

The site presents case examples by portfolio type. A student credit card portfolio reports an 80% self-cure rate with AI handling accounts up to 60 days past due. A law firm reports more than $2.4 million collected after triaging over 60,000 accounts. A subprime auto lender reports delinquency falling from 35% to 17%, with 88% of calls handled by the bot. These are vendor-published results for unnamed clients.

Skit.ai does not replace a collections system of record. Agencies and lenders typically run it alongside platforms such as those above, with the AI handling outreach and routing accounts that need a human.

Pricing is not published. Skit.ai fits agencies, lenders and collection law firms that want to automate early-stage and high-volume outreach.

Potential strengths

  • Compliance controls for US collections rules are documented on the product site
  • Vendor case examples span card, auto, education, medical and law firm portfolios

Trade-offs

  • No list prices are published
  • Works alongside a system of record rather than replacing agency or lender software

Prodigal

specialistprodigaltech.com ↗
Consider forConsumer lenders, loan servicers and collection agencies that want AI agents, propensity-to-pay scoring and real-time agent assist in one platform
Pricing notesNo public price list; demo and quote on request (checked Sep 2026)
Feature to evaluateCombines a natural-language AI agent with propensity-to-pay scores, omnichannel orchestration and real-time assist and speech analytics for human collectors

Prodigal builds AI agents for loan servicing and debt collections. It describes itself as purpose-built for consumer finance, with models trained on half a billion consumer finance interactions.

The platform has four parts. A natural-language AI agent is designed to automate collections conversations at scale. An omnichannel platform orchestrates digital outreach. Dynamic prioritisation produces propensity-to-pay scores that collections teams use to segment accounts and decide which to work first. An agent co-pilot provides real-time assist and speech analytics for human collectors, with insights intended for coaching and compliance review.

The combination separates Prodigal from voice-only AI tools. Buyers can automate part of the workload while also using the platform to monitor and support the collectors who handle the rest. A chief compliance officer quoted on the site describes using it to review every call for issues rather than sampling. Another customer describes using the intent-to-pay score to improve liquidation rates.

Prodigal reports results of up to 27% more digital engagement, up to 16% more payments and up to 30% more agent effectiveness. These are vendor-published maximums, not typical outcomes. Buyers can ask how Prodigal measured them. The site also describes a data model that builds borrower profiles and uses them to personalise payment strategies.

Like Skit.ai, Prodigal works on top of an existing collections or servicing system rather than replacing it. Integration scope, and how scores and outcomes flow back into the system of record, are points to confirm during evaluation.

Pricing is not published. Prodigal fits consumer lenders, loan servicers, healthcare revenue cycle firms and third-party agencies that want AI automation alongside analytics for their human teams.

Potential strengths

  • Covers both automated outreach and support for human collectors
  • Built specifically for consumer finance and collections

Trade-offs

  • No list prices are published
  • Performance claims are vendor-reported ranges

Frequently asked questions

What is debt collection software?

Debt collection software manages overdue accounts once they move into collections. It stores debtor and account records, schedules contact across calls, letters, email and SMS, takes payments and payment plans, tracks disputes and compliance, and reports results. Agency systems also handle many creditor clients, commissions and trust accounting. Newer AI platforms automate outreach through voice agents and digital messages.

How is debt collection software different from accounts receivable software?

Accounts receivable software helps a business invoice customers, send reminders and apply cash before an account becomes seriously delinquent. Debt collection software covers accounts that are in recovery, either inside a lender or at a third-party agency. It adds debtor portals, skip tracing, credit bureau reporting, commission handling and controls for consumer collection rules. None of the eight vendors here appear on the accounts receivable software page.

How much does debt collection software cost?

Two vendors here publish prices. Simplicity Collect starts at $399 a month with a $699 start-up cost. Collect! cloud starts at $699 a month or $6,990 a year. Debtrak prices per operator per month by quote. C&R Software, Katabat, Receive, Skit.ai and Prodigal are quote-based.

Which options suit small collection agencies?

Simplicity Collect and Collect! are built for agencies and publish their prices. Simplicity Collect has the lowest entry price and includes unlimited clients on every plan. Collect! includes every module on every cloud edition. Debtrak also serves multi-client agencies but is priced by quote and aimed at larger operations.

Which platforms are built for banks and lenders?

C&R Software's Debt Manager, Katabat and Receive by InDebted are first-party collections platforms for banks, lenders, telcos and utilities. They focus on decisioning, contact strategy, hardship handling and self-service rather than agency commission accounting. Debtrak serves banks and government agencies as well as agencies. Skit.ai and Prodigal add AI outreach and analytics on top of these systems.

What do AI debt collection platforms do?

AI collection platforms such as Skit.ai and Prodigal automate outreach and support collectors. Skit.ai centres on voice AI agents with compliance controls for FDCPA, TCPA and Regulation F. Prodigal combines an AI agent with propensity-to-pay scores and real-time assist for human collectors. Both run alongside a collections system of record rather than replacing it.

Which compliance features matter to buyers?

For US consumer collections, the key checks are how a product enforces Regulation F call frequency limits, validation notices, consent and do-not-call checks, quiet hours and dispute handling. Audit trails, call recording controls and card data handling under PCI DSS also matter. Healthcare portfolios need HIPAA safeguards. Outside the US, data residency and local certifications such as ISO 27001 or IRAP can apply.

How was this page researched?

Each vendor's product and pricing pages were read in September 2026. Prices are quoted only where the vendor publishes them. Otherwise the entry says quote-based.
