These comparisons draw on public product information, not hands-on testing of every tool. Source records identify available references and checks; missing evidence is marked. Buyer fit is an editorial assessment, not a measured performance score. How to use this research.
A customer data platform (CDP) gathers customer data from websites, mobile apps, stores, CRMs, support tools and data warehouses, matches records that belong to the same person, and makes the resulting profiles and audiences available to marketing, analytics, service and AI systems. Buyers use a CDP to personalise campaigns, cut wasted ad spend, enforce consent in one place and give teams a consistent view of each customer.
The nine platforms compared here fall into three groups. Twilio Segment, RudderStack and Hightouch start from data pipelines or the data warehouse, with RudderStack and Hightouch built as composable CDPs on top of the customer’s own warehouse. Tealium, Rokt mParticle, Salesforce Data 360 and Adobe Real-Time CDP are enterprise platforms that combine real-time collection, identity resolution and activation, with Salesforce and Adobe tied to their wider suites. Lemnisk and Amperity are specialists, Lemnisk for banks and insurers needing private or in-country deployment and Amperity for consumer brands with fragmented records. All pricing notes were checked against each vendor’s own website in September 2026. Results quoted are the vendors’ own reporting. Entries with dated source checks appear first; that records research readiness, not product quality or a ranking.

Vendor details and trade-offs
Twilio Segment
mid-marketTwilio Segment sells two layers. The first, called Connections, is a customer data pipeline: it collects events from websites, mobile apps, servers and cloud applications and routes them to downstream tools and data warehouses. The second, the Customer Data Platform package, adds Unify and Engage, which build identity-resolved profiles, create audiences and orchestrate journeys. Segment states that more than 25,000 companies use the platform.
The pricing page is more open than most in this category. Connections has a Free plan at US$0 a month covering 1,000 visitors, two sources, one warehouse destination and 500,000 Reverse ETL records a month. The Team plan starts at US$120 a month for 10,000 visitors, unlimited sources, one million Reverse ETL records and public API access, with a 14-day free trial. The Business plan is quote-based and adds custom volume, data governance, advanced roles, HIPAA eligibility with a business associate agreement, and a choice of EU or US regional hosting. The full Customer Data Platform is also sold by quote.
Several capabilities are modular. Protocols, which validates events against a tracking plan, is an add-on for Business pipeline customers and included in the CDP package. AI recommendations, AI predictions and warehouse-based audiences and profile enrichment are listed as add-ons for pipeline customers and included in the CDP package.
Segment describes its CDP as composable and extensible, with APIs, developer tools and warehouse data feeding the same profiles as real-time events. Its CDP page cites Camping World, which used the platform to merge browsing, engagement and in-store data into one view and reports a 35 per cent rise in conversion rates on paid channels. That figure is the vendor's own reporting.
Segment fits teams that want to begin with clean event collection at a published price and add profiles and audiences as needs grow. Buyers comparing the full CDP should request a quote for Unify and Engage early, because the self-serve prices cover only the pipeline.
Potential strengths
- Free and Team plans let a team test data collection before a sales conversation
- More than 700 integrations are listed, and warehouse data can enrich profiles
Trade-offs
- Unified profiles, audiences and journeys sit in the quote-based Customer Data Platform package
- Protocols data-quality tooling is an add-on on the Business pipeline plan

RudderStack
mid-marketRudderStack describes itself as a customer data platform for data and engineering teams. It collects events from 16 SDKs for web, mobile and server-side sources, routes them in real time to more than 200 cloud destinations and to data warehouses, and syncs modelled data back out of the warehouse through reverse ETL. The homepage states that the platform delivers more than 300 billion events a month.
The product is built around the data warehouse rather than a separate vendor database. Its Profiles product builds an identity graph and a customer 360 table inside the customer's own data cloud. Teams define input tables and identifiers in configuration files, and Profiles generates the computed features, keeps historical snapshots for machine-learning work and exposes the results through a real-time activation API. RudderStack says the generated code is transparent and portable. That places it squarely in the composable CDP group.
Pricing is published for the lower tiers. The Free plan covers 250,000 events a month with SDK sources, cloud and warehouse destinations and reverse ETL. The Growth plan starts at US$265 a month for one million events, with higher event bands up to 25 million a month, a 30-minute warehouse sync, unlimited tracking plans, two workspaces and 25 reverse ETL connections, and a 30-day free trial. Enterprise pricing is custom and adds five-minute warehouse syncs, unlimited transformations, SSO, HIPAA support and access to Profiles.
That last point matters when comparing it with packaged CDPs. On the pricing table, identity resolution, the audience builder, activations, attribution and propensity scores are listed as Enterprise features. The Free and Growth plans are event pipelines with governance features such as tracking plans, PII masking and consent integration.
RudderStack fits data teams that already run Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks or a similar warehouse and want customer profiles built and governed there. Marketing teams without warehouse support may find a packaged CDP quicker to operate.
Potential strengths
- Published Free and Growth tiers with stated event volumes
- Transformations in JavaScript or Python can clean events and mask personal data in flight
Trade-offs
- Identity resolution, audience builder and activations sit in the Enterprise plan
- The warehouse-first model assumes a data team comfortable with configuration and SQL

Hightouch
mid-marketHightouch sells a composable customer data platform that sits on top of a company's existing data warehouse. Instead of copying data into a separate CDP database, it reads customer profiles, events, model outputs and other business objects where they already live and syncs them to more than 300 destinations such as CRMs, email tools and ad platforms. Its composable CDP page states that the product never copies customer data and that 90 per cent of customers are fully onboarded within days or weeks.
The page contrasts this with what it calls traditional CDPs, which it describes as limited to users and events, reliant on duplicated storage and slow to implement. Hightouch says its model can activate any warehouse data, including product catalogues, inventory, accounts, reservations and households, and supports sub-second real-time marketing that combines behavioural signals with warehouse data.
The pricing page has three groups. An Agentic Marketing Platform, with Lifecycle Studio, is usage-based. The Composable CDP is sold as modules, including Customer Studio, real-time personalisation, identity resolution and Match Booster, and the page says customers only pay for what they use. A free Basic Reverse ETL tier allows up to two active syncs. Hightouch states there are no monthly tracked user limits and no caps on sources, destinations or user seats, and that unit costs fall as usage grows. No list prices are shown for the paid tiers.
Security features listed include ISO 27001, SOC 2 and SOC 3, HIPAA and GDPR compliance, EU and multi-region deployment, SSH tunnelling, role-based and label-based access control, SAML SSO, Git version control and audit logs. The homepage names Chime, a US financial technology company, among its customers, and states that Hightouch was named a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Customer Data Platforms.
Hightouch fits organisations whose data team already maintains a clean warehouse and whose marketers want self-serve audiences on top of it, including regulated firms that prefer customer data to stay in their own environment.
Potential strengths
- Modules such as Customer Studio, identity resolution and real-time personalisation can be bought separately
- Lists ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA and GDPR compliance and EU deployment
Trade-offs
- No list prices are published for the Composable CDP
- Depends on an existing warehouse such as Snowflake or BigQuery as the source of truth
- Product reference
- Product documentation
- Pricing source
- Billing terms: Usage-based; contract terms not published
- Source review: checked Sep 19, 2026

Tealium
enterpriseTealium describes itself as a customer data orchestration platform. It collects events from web, mobile, server-side, API, IoT and enterprise sources through one governed layer, resolves identity across devices and sessions into a persistent profile that updates as new signals arrive, enriches events with live context, and routes data to channels, warehouses, AI models or agents in real time, on a trigger or on a schedule. The company states that it has more than 850 enterprise customers and more than 1,300 integrations, and that it has twice been named a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant.
Governance is central to the pitch. Tealium says consent is captured at collection and travels with every event, block-by-default rules run before any activation, and PII controls run inline. It lists HIPAA business associate agreements, SOC 2 and ISO 27001 and 27018 certifications. That design is relevant to regulated industries where marketing use of customer data is tightly controlled.
Financial services is a visible segment. The homepage features Legal & General, describing real-time identity resolution and activation in a regulated financial services environment. A Tealium press release from August 2025 says Legal & General combined Tealium's CDP with Snowflake and reports a 54 per cent increase in call-to-lead conversions and a 15 per cent rise in application completions. These are vendor-published figures.
Tealium also positions itself for AI use cases. It says it can deliver identity-resolved, consented event streams to Amazon Bedrock, Vertex AI, OpenAI or custom endpoints, run a managed agent that labels intent and sentiment inside the event stream, and push model outputs back to its destinations. Cloud activations can run on modelled data in Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery or Redshift, so it can also work alongside a warehouse.
Pricing is not published and engagements start with a demo request. Tealium fits large enterprises, including banks and insurers, that want real-time collection, identity and consent handled in one governed layer.
Potential strengths
- More than 1,300 integrations and activation directly from Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery or Redshift
- Lists HIPAA business associate agreements, SOC 2 and ISO 27001 and 27018 certifications
Trade-offs
- No pricing is published
- Breadth of collection, tag management and CDP features implies a larger implementation than pipeline-only tools
- Product reference
- Product documentation

Rokt mParticle
enterprisemParticle is a customer data platform now marketed as Rokt mParticle. It collects customer data from mobile apps, websites and servers through SDKs and APIs, resolves identities into profiles, and forwards data to more than 300 integrations. Its pages describe a hybrid model: real-time streaming for instant engagement, combined with warehouse-native audience building so that audiences can be created from a warehouse or data lake without new pipelines.
The financial services solution page is specific about banking use cases. It describes merging eKYC events, in-app behaviour and in-branch activity into one governed profile, targeting customers likely to open, fund and borrow, and triggering card, loan or wealth offers on signals such as direct deposits, card swipes, logins and account milestones. It lists automated consent controls, data masking and pipeline observability, and states these support compliance with GLBA, GDPR, PSD2, SOC 2 and internal access policies.
Published case studies back this focus. SoFi, a personal finance company and bank, uses the platform to collect web and app data through one integration, merge anonymous and known activity with IDSync, and sync profiles to tools such as Braze and Optimizely; the case study reports that this ended a 30 per cent data loss in an earlier workflow. Lulo Bank, a digital bank in Colombia, used mParticle analytics to find drop-off points in account onboarding and retarget those users. A Rokt blog post also names Venmo, Quicken Loans, Paga, Stocktwits and Abra as consumer finance users, and the mParticle homepage references Trade Republic. These are vendor-published accounts.
The platform also lists AI features for event predictions, lookalike modelling and next-best-action decisioning, and a Profile Isolation Strategy that keeps anonymous data separate from logged-in profiles.
Pricing is not published; the pricing URL leads to a contact form. mParticle fits app-first consumer brands, especially fintechs and digital banks, that need real-time mobile data and documented compliance controls.
Potential strengths
- Financial services page lists consent controls, data masking and pipeline observability for GLBA, GDPR, PSD2 and SOC 2
- Published financial services case studies include SoFi and Lulo Bank
Trade-offs
- No pricing is published
- Now sold under the Rokt brand, so buyers should confirm roadmap and packaging after the ownership change

Salesforce Data 360
enterpriseSalesforce Data 360 is the product formerly called Data Cloud. Salesforce describes it as a way to unify fragmented enterprise data into one view, without moving it, to drive real-time workflows, decisions and AI agents. Its marketing pages call it a CDP for marketers and position it as the data layer for Agentforce, Salesforce's agent platform, as well as for sales and service teams working in the same customer records.
Unlike most enterprise CDPs, Salesforce publishes unit prices. Buyers choose between two models. Flex Credits cost US$500 per 100,000 credits and are consumed as Data 360 actions run; they can be pre-purchased, used pay-as-you-go or pre-committed, and can be transferred between Data 360 and Agentforce. Profile-based pricing is a flat rate: Profiles costs US$240 per 1,000 profiles a year and includes profile-building actions plus one Flex Credit per profile, while Enterprise Profiles costs US$420 per 1,000 profiles a year, includes two Flex Credits per profile and adds data masking and ad audience add-ons.
The pricing page states that batch data ingestion and zero-copy integrations are free, and that charges apply when data is used. Billable actions include processing unstructured data, preparing and unifying profiles, building and activating segments, running queries and streaming or real-time processing. Because costs follow usage, buyers should estimate volumes of each action before committing.
Other capabilities listed on the product page include clean rooms for privacy-safe data collaboration with partners, extraction of insights from documents and images, and natural-language setup and data management. Salesforce highlights a zero-copy partnership with Snowflake and a FedEx story reporting more than 2,000 per cent return on investment; that figure is Salesforce's own.
Data 360 fits organisations that already run Salesforce for sales, service or marketing and want profiles to flow into those applications and Agentforce. Companies outside the Salesforce ecosystem may find a standalone CDP simpler to evaluate.
Potential strengths
- Published unit prices for both credit-based and profile-based models
- Zero-copy integration with warehouses such as Snowflake
Trade-offs
- Credit consumption depends on actions performed, so total cost needs modelling before purchase
- Greatest value assumes wider use of the Salesforce ecosystem
- Product reference
- Product documentation
- Pricing source
- Billing terms: Credits pre-purchased, pay-as-you-go or pre-committed; profile plans priced per year

Adobe Real-Time CDP
enterpriseAdobe Real-Time CDP is Adobe's customer data platform, built on Adobe Experience Platform. Adobe describes it as unifying data from every source into AI-powered profiles and audiences for personalised engagement across the customer journey while respecting customer preferences. It supports both business-to-consumer and business-to-business use cases, which sets it apart from several consumer-focused platforms in this comparison.
The product page groups capabilities into five areas: flexible connectivity, harmonised data access, intelligent audience management, data governance and full-funnel activation. On connectivity, Adobe says customers can activate data directly from an existing data warehouse without moving or copying the underlying datasets, and build federated audiences in the warehouse that combine with continuously ingested data. It also lists ingestion of zero-party, first-party and cookieless third-party data, plus second-party data from trusted partners.
On data preparation, Real-Time CDP connects and normalises online, offline and pseudonymous data into unified B2B and B2C profiles and audiences. Adobe says the platform then materialises the data for real-time decisioning and personalisation. The page lists tools to standardise, clean and monitor data, self-serve templates, and a Data Engineering Agent that automates data onboarding, SQL preparation, data collection and troubleshooting.
Adobe states that audiences can be built without relying on third-party cookies and activated across the marketing funnel. Governance features are presented as a core area of the product, alongside respect for customer preferences in activation.
Pricing is not published; the page offers a product overview video and a demo booking. Real-Time CDP fits large enterprises already using Adobe Experience Cloud products for analytics, content or journey orchestration, and B2B organisations that need account and person profiles in the same platform as consumer data. Buyers outside the Adobe ecosystem should weigh implementation effort against standalone options.
Potential strengths
- Unifies online, offline and pseudonymous data into B2B and B2C profiles
- Federated audience composition reduces the need to copy warehouse data
Trade-offs
- No pricing is published
- Built on Adobe Experience Platform, so value is highest for existing Adobe customers
- Product reference
- Product documentation

Lemnisk
specialistLemnisk describes itself as an AI-powered composable customer data platform for enterprises. Its central claim is deployment flexibility: the platform is offered as SaaS or as a privately deployed CDP, and it can run composably on top of a customer's data warehouse, keeping data on-premise, in the customer's cloud or within a chosen geography. For regulated institutions subject to data residency rules, that is a significant difference from multi-tenant SaaS products.
The homepage lists ISO 27001 and 27018 and SOC 2 certifications, and governance features including bring-your-own-key encryption and rule-based access control. Ingestion covers SDKs, APIs, files and voice, capturing both events and profiles. Lemnisk describes an entity-level identity resolution method that links disconnected business identifiers to a single primary user identifier, supporting targeting at both individual and aggregated business levels.
Financial services is the most developed vertical on the site. A dedicated banking page describes four use cases: channel orchestration that targets users on the online or offline channel they favour and forecasts fatigue from repeated messages; next-best-offer recommendations for existing customers, including recognising them on the bank's website before login; scoring lead intent so call centres can focus on high-propensity users; and nurturing leads that submitted an application but did not proceed. The AI engine behind these features is branded Ramanujan AI.
Testimonials on the homepage come from the chief marketing officer of TATA AIA, a performance marketing lead at AIA Singapore and a manager at the Saudi Motorsport Company. The TATA AIA quote credits real-time segmentation and orchestration, including WhatsApp as a channel. These are vendor-published statements.
Pricing is not published, and the banking page invites prospects to request an assessment. Lemnisk fits banks and insurers, particularly in India, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, that need a CDP with private or in-country deployment and marketing use cases designed for financial products.
Potential strengths
- A dedicated banking page covers next-best-offer, lead nurturing and channel orchestration use cases
- Lists ISO 27001 and 27018, SOC 2, bring-your-own-key encryption and rule-based access control
Trade-offs
- No pricing is published
- Named customers are concentrated in insurance and banking in India and Asia, with fewer published references elsewhere
- Product reference
- Product documentation
- Billing terms: Not recorded
- Source review: checked Sep 19, 2026
- Vendor confirmation: not confirmed
Amperity
enterpriseAmperity calls its product a Customer Data Cloud. It ingests and normalises data from any source without requiring a fixed schema, then uses AI-powered identity resolution to unify customer profiles and maintain an identity keychain of every business-defined identifier. Standard and predictive models, with templates for multiple industries, enrich profiles for analytics and activation.
The activation layer includes a point-and-click segment editor that supports nested audience conditions, AmpAI, a generative AI assistant that helps build segments, write SQL and explore data, and reverse ETL pipelines that format data for each destination. For data teams, Amperity lists governance with visibility into every transformation and rules-based access control, full sandbox environments that track changes and include built-in promotion and validation, and Amperity Bridge, which shares data with lakehouses such as Snowflake and Databricks using open, industry-standard formats. That gives Amperity a foot in both the packaged and the composable camps.
Published references are mainly consumer brands. The homepage features Citizen Watch, which says it chose Amperity after evaluating nine vendors; Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, reporting a 60 per cent increase in conversion rates; New Look, reporting 24 per cent more high-value customers identified after resolving 3.4 million fragmented profiles; and Alaska Airlines, reporting a 198 per cent rise in loyalty conversion rates. The platform page also quotes a data engineer at BECU, a US credit union, saying automated daily dashboard refreshes save the IT team 20 hours or more a week. These are vendor-published figures.
Amperity positions the product as the customer context layer for both marketing teams and AI agents, and says it was built for what earlier CDPs could not do.
Pricing is not published, and the site routes buyers to a demo or sales contact. Amperity fits consumer brands with large, fragmented customer records across stores, loyalty programmes and digital channels, including member-based financial institutions such as credit unions.
Potential strengths
- Amperity Bridge shares data with Snowflake and Databricks using open formats
- Full sandboxes with change tracking and promotion reduce the risk of configuration changes
Trade-offs
- No pricing is published
- Published references lean toward retail, travel and hospitality rather than banking
- Product reference
- Product documentation
- Billing terms: Not recorded
- Source review: checked Sep 19, 2026
- Vendor confirmation: not confirmed
Frequently asked questions
What is a customer data platform?
A customer data platform, or CDP, collects customer data from websites, apps, stores, CRMs and other systems, resolves records that belong to the same person into one profile, and makes those profiles and audiences available to marketing, analytics, service and AI tools. Most CDPs also manage consent and data quality so the same governed data reaches every downstream system.
What is a composable CDP?
A composable CDP builds profiles and audiences on top of a company's own data warehouse instead of copying data into a separate vendor database. Hightouch and RudderStack are built this way, Lemnisk offers a composable deployment option, and Segment, mParticle, Adobe, Salesforce and Amperity each describe ways to use warehouse data without moving it. The trade-off is that a composable approach relies on a data team to maintain the warehouse model.
How much does a customer data platform cost?
Only some vendors publish prices. Segment's pipeline has a free plan and a Team plan from US$120 a month, RudderStack's Growth plan starts at US$265 a month for one million events, and Salesforce Data 360 lists US$240 per 1,000 profiles a year or US$500 per 100,000 Flex Credits. Hightouch has a free reverse ETL tier and usage-based paid plans. Tealium, mParticle, Adobe, Lemnisk and Amperity quote each engagement.
Which customer data platforms suit banks and financial services?
Rokt mParticle publishes a financial services page citing GLBA, GDPR and PSD2 controls, with SoFi and Lulo Bank as case studies. Lemnisk has a dedicated banking page and offers on-premise or in-country deployment, with TATA AIA and AIA Singapore among its named customers. Tealium features Legal & General and consent enforced at collection. Amperity quotes BECU, a credit union, and Hightouch names Chime. Banks should confirm data residency, audit and regulatory requirements directly with each vendor.
What is the difference between a CDP and a CRM?
A CRM records sales and service interactions with known contacts, usually entered by staff. A CDP collects behavioural and transactional data automatically from many systems, including anonymous website and app activity, resolves identities across them and sends profiles and audiences to other tools, which can include the CRM. Salesforce Data 360 is an example of a CDP designed to sit alongside a CRM.
Which CDPs can be tried without a sales call?
Twilio Segment offers a free Connections plan and a 14-day trial of its Team plan. RudderStack offers a free plan with 250,000 events a month and a 30-day trial of Growth. Hightouch offers a free Basic Reverse ETL tier. These entry plans cover data pipelines and syncs; profile, identity resolution and audience features at each vendor are mostly in quote-based tiers.
How long does a CDP implementation take?
It depends on the number of sources, identity rules and destinations. Hightouch states that 90 per cent of its customers are fully onboarded within days or weeks and contrasts this with six to nine months for traditional CDPs, a comparison made by the vendor. Enterprise platforms with tag management, consent and many channels usually need a longer project, so buyers should ask each vendor for a scoped plan and reference customers of similar size.
How should this comparison be used?
Use the architecture, documented buyer fit and published pricing to shortlist two or three platforms, then run a proof of concept on real data sources and identity rules. This page records public source checks of each vendor's own website in September 2026. It is not based on hands-on testing, and no vendor has confirmed its entry. The order of entries reflects research readiness, not a ranking.
