Best Contact Center Workforce Optimization Software (2026): Top 10 Compared

Updated September 2026By StatWharf Editorial10 vendorsMethodology

The ten products below forecast contact volume, build agent schedules and manage staffing during the day. Three groups appear. Enterprise WFM suites (Verint, Aspect, Peopleware) are sold on their own and connect to many contact center platforms. Platform-native WFM (NICE, Genesys Cloud, Amazon Connect, Zendesk, Puzzel) sits inside a contact center or service platform. Specialists (Assembled, Intradiem) cover support-team scheduling or real-time automation next to an existing WFM. Assembled and Genesys publish per-agent prices, Zendesk publishes a WFM and QA bundle price, and Amazon Connect includes scheduling in its usage rates. The other vendors quote after a sales call.

These comparisons draw on public product information, not hands-on testing of every tool. Source records identify available references and checks; missing evidence is marked. Buyer fit is an editorial assessment, not a measured performance score. How to use this research.

Contact center workforce optimization software helps a contact center match staff to demand. Planners forecast calls, chats and emails, build schedules that meet service level targets and labor rules, and adjust staffing during the day when volume or absence changes. Many suites also include quality and performance management.

The market splits three ways. Standalone WFM suites from Verint, Aspect and Peopleware connect to many contact center platforms and handle complex labor rules. Contact center and service platforms such as NICE, Genesys, Amazon Connect, Zendesk and Puzzel sell WFM inside their own product. Specialists cover a narrower job, such as support-team scheduling with published prices from Assembled or real-time automation from Intradiem. This comparison covers ten products across those groups, with pricing read from each vendor’s own pages.

Vendor details and trade-offs

Assembled

mid-marketassembled.com ↗
Consider forCustomer support teams that schedule across email, chat and phone, and that manage outsourced BPO agents, as Assembled documents
Pricing notesWorkforce Management Core costs $25, Pro $45 and Enterprise $75 per month. Assembled's own comparison page states that WFM is priced per agent per month plus a platform fee, and that ML forecasting and AI scheduling need Pro or above. Vendor Management for BPOs is a separate paid add-on. AI Copilot starts at $35 a month and AI agents at $0.65 per conversation (checked Sep 2026)
Feature to evaluateHuman-AI workforce planning, which forecasts the work left for people after AI agents resolve their share

Assembled sells workforce management and AI products to customer support teams. Its WFM module covers ML-based multi-channel forecasting, AI-powered schedule generation, automated intraday management, real-time adherence monitoring and historical reporting. Pro adds automated time off and shift swaps.

The vendor positions the product for support operations that mix human agents and AI agents. Its pricing page lists human-AI workforce planning as a WFM feature, which lets a planner forecast the contacts left for people after AI agents handle part of the volume. Assembled also sells its own AI agents and an AI copilot, but each product can be bought separately.

Vendor Management is a separate add-on for companies that outsource to BPOs. It brings the partner's schedules, billing and performance into the same view. Enterprise adds custom API integrations, white-glove onboarding, a designated account manager and quarterly business reviews. Assembled publishes more of its WFM price list than most vendors on this page, but the platform fee still requires a quote.

Potential strengths

  • Tier prices are published on the pricing page
  • BPO vendor management covers scheduling, billing and performance for outsourced teams

Trade-offs

  • The platform fee is not published
  • ML forecasting and AI scheduling need the Pro tier or above

Genesys Cloud Workforce Management

enterprisegenesys.com ↗
Consider forOrganizations running Genesys Cloud CX that want forecasting, scheduling and adherence without a separate WFM contract, as Genesys documents
Pricing notesGenesys Cloud CX 3 costs $155 per user per month and includes workforce management, forecasting and scheduling, quality and employee performance. CX 4 costs $240 and adds AI Experience tokens and journey management. On CX 1 ($75) and CX 2 ($115), workforce engagement management is an add-on. Some AI features consume AI Experience tokens (checked Sep 2026)
Feature to evaluateA continuous main forecast that recalculates every night from the latest data

Genesys Cloud is a contact center platform with native workforce engagement management. The WFM module forecasts interaction volume across voice and digital channels, generates schedules, tracks intraday performance against forecast and monitors real-time adherence. Agents see schedules, request time off and trade shifts on desktop or mobile.

Genesys documents several forecast methods. Automatic Best Method analyses historical data and picks the most accurate model. Weighted Historical Index lets a planner weight past periods, and a CSV import supports new customers without history. The main forecast is recalculated every night. The vendor states that over 25 machine learning models sit behind the forecasting and that forecasts can run up to two years ahead.

Schedules can be load-based from a forecast, built without a forecast, or blank. Activity plans place training and meetings at times that protect service levels, and work plan bidding lets agents bid for shift patterns. Because WFM, quality and routing share one platform, supervisors see adherence and performance data in the same product.

Potential strengths

  • Edition prices are published, and WFM is included from CX 3
  • Documentation lists each forecast and schedule method in detail

Trade-offs

  • Requires Genesys Cloud as the contact center platform
  • WFM is an add-on on the two lower editions

Zendesk WFM

mid-marketzendesk.com ↗
Consider forCustomer service teams on Zendesk Support or Suite that want to forecast, schedule and monitor agents inside Zendesk, as Zendesk documents
Pricing notesZendesk WFM is an add-on for Support and Suite plans. The pricing page lists the Workforce Engagement Bundle, which combines Zendesk WFM and Zendesk QA, at $50 per agent per month paid yearly. It does not list a standalone WFM price. Zendesk states that an add-on is bought for all agents in the account. Base plans start at $19 per agent per month paid yearly (checked Sep 2026)
Feature to evaluateBought from the Zendesk subscription page, with no separate integration project

Zendesk WFM is the workforce management add-on for the Zendesk service platform. Zendesk describes it as a set of planning, scheduling and monitoring tools that replace spreadsheets for tracking schedules and assignments. It gives managers a view of agent adherence and activity across support channels.

The product fits teams whose work already runs through Zendesk tickets, messaging and voice. Because the data sits in the same platform, adherence and activity tracking do not need a connector to a separate contact center system. Forecasts and schedules cover the channels Zendesk handles.

Buying is simple for existing customers. Account owners and billing admins on self-service accounts add WFM from the subscription page, and managed accounts buy through a Zendesk representative. The add-on covers all agents in the account. Teams that also want quality scoring can take the Workforce Engagement Bundle, which Zendesk prices below the two add-ons bought separately. A team that does not use Zendesk needs a Support or Suite plan first.

Potential strengths

  • Self-service accounts can add WFM directly from the subscription page
  • The QA and WFM bundle price is published

Trade-offs

  • Requires a Zendesk Support or Suite plan
  • The add-on is charged for every agent in the account

Amazon Connect

enterpriseaws.amazon.com ↗
Consider forOrganizations on Amazon Connect that want native forecasting, capacity planning and scheduling billed by usage, as AWS documents
Pricing notesAmazon Connect Customer pricing lists forecasting and agent scheduling among the included features. Usage rates are $0.038 per voice minute plus standard telephony, $0.010 per chat message, $0.080 per email and $0.014 per SMS or third-party message. There are no minimums, no long-term contracts and no seat-based licences. Rates vary by region (checked Sep 2026)
Feature to evaluateCapacity planning with what-if analysis of full-time equivalent agents against service level goals

Amazon Connect is the AWS cloud contact center. Its native workforce management covers AI-based forecasting of contact volume and average handle time, long-term capacity planning and agent scheduling. Supervisors forecast, plan and schedule inside Amazon Connect, and agents view shifts, handle contacts and request time off in the same application.

Capacity planning estimates how many full-time equivalent agents a center needs to meet service level goals. What-if analysis lets planners change targets and share the plan with HR, finance and training teams. AWS positions this as a way to avoid building a custom solution or integrating a third-party WFM product.

Pricing follows usage, not seats. Under Connect Customer pricing, forecasting and scheduling are included in per-minute and per-message channel rates, along with AI agents, real-time agent assist, performance evaluations and screen recording. AWS quotes a customer that compared this with separate WFM and quality tools. The model suits centers already on AWS. A center on another platform would need to move its contact center to use it.

Potential strengths

  • No seat licence, so cost follows contact volume
  • Forecasting, performance evaluations and agent assist sit in one usage price

Trade-offs

  • Only works with Amazon Connect as the contact center
  • Usage pricing is harder to forecast than a seat price for a busy voice center

Peopleware (formerly injixo)

mid-marketinjixo.com ↗
Consider forContact centers that want a vendor-neutral WFM suite covering forecasting, capacity planning, scheduling, intraday and time and attendance, as Peopleware documents
Pricing notesNo public price. The pricing page states that Peopleware reviews the buyer's goals, tailors functions, support and services, and then sets a price for that solution. An ROI calculator is offered on the site (checked Sep 2026)
Feature to evaluateTime and attendance tracking for payroll inside the WFM suite

Peopleware is the current name of the WFM suite formerly sold as injixo, and the injixo.com site now carries the Peopleware brand. The vendor describes an AI-native WFM suite for contact centers and states that it has more than 500,000 users.

The suite has six product areas. Forecasting uses predictive AI for short-, mid- and long-term workload. Capacity planning compares staffing strategies by capacity and cost. Scheduling uses optimization to build shift plans under complex constraints. Intraday management adapts schedules to unplanned events. Time off management uses agentic AI to automate requests, and time and attendance records working hours for compliance and payroll.

Peopleware sells the product as a solution rather than a list price. Its pricing page describes a process of reviewing goals, tailoring functions and services, and pricing the result. Customer quotes on the site cite a 32% service level gain within five weeks and savings of about £250,000. These are vendor-published customer statements.

Potential strengths

  • Covers capacity planning, time off and time and attendance as well as scheduling
  • The vendor states more than 500,000 users

Trade-offs

  • No public price
  • The rename from injixo means older reviews use a different product name

Verint Workforce Management

enterpriseverint.com ↗
Consider forEnterprises that need forecasting and scheduling across contact center and back-office work, with governance and regional labor rules, as Verint documents
Pricing notesNo public price. Verint's SMB page lists Verint Workforce Management for enterprises with complex governance and labor law needs, and Calabrio Workforce Management for inbound contact centers that want faster deployment. Both route buyers to a sales contact (checked Sep 2026)
Feature to evaluateTimeFlex Bot for self-service schedule flexibility, with a published attrition case

Verint sells enterprise workforce management for contact centers and other service functions. Its WFM forecasts demand across real-time and asynchronous channels, including voice, chat, email and SMS, and covers back-office work. Capacity planning supports budgets and hiring decisions, and intraday tools rebalance staff during the day. Agents get mobile access to schedules and change requests.

Verint now also owns Calabrio. Its SMB page lists Calabrio Workforce Management as a separate product for inbound contact centers that want ease of use and faster deployment, next to Verint WFM for organizations with deeper governance and labor law needs. The former Monet Software site now redirects to that Verint page.

Verint publishes customer outcomes on its WFM page. An insurer reduced attrition by 30% with the TimeFlex Bot, which gives agents flexible self-service scheduling. A sports betting provider moved 400 employees to Verint WFM in two days and improved forecast accuracy by 50%. These are vendor-published figures. The WFM also connects with Verint quality, performance management and speech analytics products.

Potential strengths

  • Covers back-office and asynchronous work as well as voice
  • A choice of an enterprise WFM and a lighter Calabrio WFM from one vendor

Trade-offs

  • No public price
  • Two overlapping WFM products make the right fit a sales conversation

NICE Workforce Management

enterprisenice.com ↗
Consider forEnterprise contact centers on NICE CXone that want omnichannel forecasting, self-scheduling and back-office WFM, as NICE documents
Pricing notesNo public price on the WFM product page. NICE sells Workforce Management as part of the CXone AI platform and routes buyers to a demo. Enhanced Strategic Planner and Back Office are listed as add-ons (checked Sep 2026)
Feature to evaluateLong-term Enhanced Strategic Planner built on NICE WFM historical data

NICE Workforce Management is part of the NICE CXone AI platform. It covers forecasting, scheduling, adherence tracking and intraday reforecasting across voice and digital channels. NICE states that its brands handle more than 25 billion interactions a year on its platform.

The vendor describes patented AI and machine learning that builds forecasts and optimized schedules balancing employee preferences with business goals. Agents can self-schedule and bid for shifts. During the day, intraday AI reforecasts and reoptimizes staffing based on volume, shrinkage and agent availability, which helps managers keep service levels without manual rework.

Two add-ons extend the core product. Enhanced Strategic Planner builds long-term staffing and budget plans from NICE WFM historical data. Back Office extends forecasting and workload balancing to non-customer-facing operations. NICE also sells WFM inside its broader workforce engagement management suite, which adds quality, coaching and performance management. Buyers that are not on CXone should ask how the product connects to their contact center platform.

Potential strengths

  • Back-office WFM is a documented add-on
  • Self-scheduling and shift bidding for agents

Trade-offs

  • No public price
  • Built around the CXone platform

Aspect Workforce Management

enterpriseaspect.com ↗
Consider forEnterprise contact centers that want policy-aware scheduling automation and a choice of cloud, hybrid or on-premise deployment, as Aspect documents
Pricing notesNo public price. The Aspect site offers a savings calculator and a demo request. It lists Workforce, Quality, Performance and League gamification applications on the WorkforceOS platform (checked Sep 2026)
Feature to evaluateOn-premise and hybrid deployment options that most cloud WFM vendors do not offer

Aspect sells enterprise workforce management for contact centers. The vendor states that it is trusted by more than 400 contact centers and supports over 2 million agents a day. Its applications run on Aspect WorkforceOS, which provides built-in integrations and open APIs.

Aspect Intelligence is the AI layer across the suite. Multi-model forecasting learns from demand patterns and adapts in real time. Scheduling balances business needs and agent preferences through shift bidding, trading and preference-based rostering, with automation that respects labor rules. Real-time monitoring of adherence and performance sends alerts before service levels slip.

The suite also includes Quality, Performance and League, a gamification application that turns daily KPIs into team competitions. Aspect is one of the few vendors on this page that offers cloud, hybrid and on-premise deployment, which matters for regulated contact centers that cannot move all workforce data to the cloud. Its site cites figures such as 40% fewer schedule change requests from a 2024 annual report. These are vendor-published results.

Potential strengths

  • Cloud, hybrid and on-premise deployment
  • Shift bidding, trading and preference-based rostering under labor rules

Trade-offs

  • No public price
  • Enterprise focus is more than a small team needs
Sources and status

Intradiem

specialistintradiem.com ↗
Consider forLarge, structured service teams in sectors such as healthcare, financial services and insurance that want real-time workforce automation on top of existing systems, as Intradiem documents
Pricing notesNo public price. Intradiem states that its proposed solutions are designed to deliver at least a 2X return on investment by the end of the first 12 months after go-live, backed by a contractual guarantee (checked Sep 2026)
Feature to evaluateA contractual 2X ROI guarantee on the solution

Intradiem describes itself as real-time workforce automation software for large, structured teams. It is not a scheduling tool on its own. It watches live data such as call volume, agent states, task queues and backlogs, and acts automatically when conditions change. The vendor calls this category Dynamic Workforce Orchestration.

When an agent goes idle, a queue backs up or volume spikes, Intradiem can reassign tasks, schedule training or rebalance workloads in seconds. Rules set by managers decide which action runs. The product connects to existing systems, so it sits next to a WFM suite rather than replacing it, and it covers voice, chat and back-office work.

Intradiem publishes outcome claims: a contractual 2X ROI guarantee, an average customer ROI of 7X, 114% net revenue retention and average productivity savings of 6-10%. It also cites a Forrester study that validated 342% ROI. These are vendor-published figures. Buyers should treat Intradiem as a layer that makes an existing schedule work harder during the day.

Potential strengths

  • Works alongside an existing WFM rather than replacing it
  • Covers back-office queues as well as voice and chat

Trade-offs

  • No public price
  • Not a forecasting and scheduling tool on its own

Puzzel Workforce Management

mid-marketpuzzel.com ↗
Consider forContact centers in Europe that want cloud forecasting, multi-skill scheduling and real-time adherence, as Puzzel documents
Pricing notesNo public WFM price. Puzzel's pricing page describes packages that combine channels, features and tools, and routes buyers to a sales contact (checked Sep 2026)
Feature to evaluateSeveral forecasts in the same week when plans change

Puzzel is a European contact center vendor, and Puzzel WFM is its cloud workforce management product. The WFM analyses historical data to predict contact volume across every channel and allows several forecasts in the same week if plans change. Planners create, edit and finalize staffing needs in the same tool.

Scheduling supports multiple skills, so the right agent with the right skills is available when needed. Agents can add availability and preferences, bid for shifts and request changes or swaps through a self-service portal. Real-time adherence shows who is on schedule, and intraday management lets managers change schedules when volume moves.

Reporting covers agent shifts, adherence and holiday requests, plus payroll reports that include overtime. APIs sync WFM data with other business systems. Puzzel also sells a contact center suite, quality management and AI tools, and it packages them together. The WFM can therefore be bought with Puzzel's own contact center or as part of a wider package.

Potential strengths

  • Payroll and overtime reports support HR
  • APIs connect WFM data to other business systems

Trade-offs

  • No public price
  • Customer base is concentrated in Europe

How to choose a vendor

Decide between a standalone suite and platform WFM

Platform WFM reads queue and agent-state data from the contact center it belongs to, so setup is shorter. A standalone suite such as Verint, Aspect or Peopleware connects to several platforms and suits companies that run more than one contact center system or plan to change platforms. The buyer should list every system that holds contact volume before choosing.

Count the agents the licence covers

Vendors meter WFM in different ways. Assembled charges per agent plus a platform fee, Genesys includes WFM in its CX 3 seat, Zendesk requires the add-on for every agent in the account, and Amazon Connect charges per voice minute and chat message. A buyer should model scheduled agents, supervisors and monthly contacts before comparing quotes.

Test the forecast on your own history

Forecast accuracy decides whether schedules hold. A buyer should give each shortlisted vendor 12 to 24 months of interval data and compare the forecast with actual volume for a period the vendor did not see. Genesys, Aspect and Peopleware document several forecasting methods, and the result on the buyer's own data matters more than a published accuracy claim.

Frequently asked questions

What is contact center workforce optimization software?

Contact center workforce optimization (WFO) software helps a contact center have the right number of agents with the right skills at the right time. The core is workforce management: forecasting contact volume, building schedules and managing staffing during the day. Many vendors add quality management, performance management and coaching, and some now call the whole suite workforce engagement management (WEM).

What is the difference between WFM, WFO and WEM?

Workforce management (WFM) covers forecasting, scheduling, adherence and intraday management. Workforce optimization (WFO) is an older term for a suite that adds quality monitoring, recording and performance management to WFM. Workforce engagement management (WEM) adds agent-facing tools such as self-scheduling, gamification and coaching. Vendors on this page use all three terms.

Which workforce management tools publish prices?

As of September 2026, Assembled lists WFM at $25, $45 and $75 per agent per month plus an unpublished platform fee. Genesys includes WFM in Genesys Cloud CX 3 at $155 per user per month. Zendesk lists a WFM and QA bundle at $50 per agent per month paid yearly. Amazon Connect includes forecasting and scheduling in its usage rates. The other vendors quote after a sales call.

Should a contact center use its platform's built-in WFM?

Built-in WFM from NICE, Genesys, Amazon Connect, Zendesk or Puzzel reads data from the same platform, so setup is shorter and there is one contract. A standalone suite such as Verint, Aspect or Peopleware suits centers with several contact center systems, complex labor rules or back-office work. The buyer should compare forecasting depth and labor-rule support, not only integration effort.

How is WFM software priced?

Most vendors charge per agent per month, and some add a platform fee. Genesys includes WFM in higher seat editions. Zendesk requires the add-on for every agent in the account. Amazon Connect has no seat licence and charges by voice minute and message. Enterprise suites are quoted, and implementation services can add a large share of first-year cost.

What does real-time workforce automation add?

A schedule is fixed in advance, but volume and absence change during the day. Real-time automation tools such as Intradiem watch queues and agent states and act when conditions change, for example by moving training into idle time or reassigning tasks. NICE and Aspect also document intraday AI that reforecasts and adjusts schedules automatically.

Can WFM software plan for AI agents?

Some vendors now forecast the work left for human agents after AI agents resolve part of the volume. Assembled lists human-AI workforce planning as a WFM feature. Amazon Connect and Genesys include AI agents in the same platform as WFM. A buyer who plans to automate contacts should ask how the forecast treats contacts that AI agents contain.

How was this list compiled?

StatWharf Editorial selected vendors that document contact center forecasting, scheduling or workforce optimization on their own sites, and read each vendor's product and pricing pages in September 2026. The page holds at most three vendors in common with StatWharf's AI call center software page. No product was tested hands-on, and no vendor confirmed its entry.
