Best Accounts Payable Automation Software (2026): Top 10 Compared
Accounts payable automation software captures supplier invoices, codes and matches them to purchase orders, routes them for approval, pays suppliers and syncs the result to the ERP or accounting system. The ten products below split into three groups. BILL, Ramp and Tipalti publish starting prices and sell to small and mid-sized finance teams, with Tipalti extending into global supplier payments. Stampli, AvidXchange, Yooz and Rillion are AP-first platforms for mid-market teams that quote on invoice volume or scope. Medius, Basware and Vic.ai sell AI invoice processing to larger and multi-entity organisations, and Basware adds an e-invoicing network for cross-border compliance. Only three of the ten publish a figure.

These comparisons draw on public product information, not hands-on testing of every tool. Source records identify available references and checks; missing evidence is marked. Buyer fit is an editorial assessment, not a measured performance score. How to use this research.
Accounts payable automation software takes supplier invoices from arrival to payment. It captures each invoice, codes it to the general ledger, matches it to a purchase order where one exists, sends it to the right approvers and pays the supplier, then records the result in the ERP. The aim is fewer manual touches per invoice, fewer duplicate or fraudulent payments and a faster month-end close.
The comparison below covers ten products. Features and pricing come from each vendor’s product and pricing pages, checked in October 2026. Three vendors publish prices, on different units: per user, per month with transaction fees, or a free tier with paid upgrades. The rest quote on invoice volume, entities or modules, and their profiles record what each pricing page says about how quotes are built.
For the receivables side, see the comparison of accounts receivable automation software. Related pages cover spend management software and expense management software.

Tipalti sells an AP automation product alongside a separate Mass Payments product for paying large payee networks such as creators and affiliates. The Accounts Payable plan starts at $99 a month and covers invoice capture and GL coding, two- and three-way PO matching, approval workflows and automated reconciliation with the ERP. Tipalti states its invoice scanning reads e-invoices, PDF, Word and Excel files in 146 languages.
The supplier side is a large part of the product. Suppliers onboard themselves through a branded portal in 27 languages, and Tipalti collects W-9 and W-8 tax forms and validates tax details. Payments go out in more than 200 countries and territories on local rails, with multiple currency accounts and FX management. AvidXchange sells AP automation and payment software to finance teams and an AP-as-a-service product that ERP and accounting system vendors embed in their own platforms. The finance team product covers invoice processing, approval workflows with an audit trail and payments without paper, and the company says it draws on more than 25 years of payables data.
Payments run through the AvidPay Network. Suppliers in the network use the AvidXchange Supplier Hub to choose virtual credit card, AvidPay Direct or mailed checks. The site lists more than 200 integrations with ERP and accounting systems.
Ownership changed recently. On 15 October 2025 AvidXchange announced that TPG and Corpay had completed their acquisition at $10.00 per share, valuing it at about $2.2 billion; TPG holds a majority and Corpay a minority stake, and the shares no longer trade on Nasdaq. Medius describes it as the package for teams replacing manual AP processes.
AP 360 adds Medius Copilot, Medius Supplier Conversations, Fraud and Risk Detection and the Medius Supplier Portal, and raises the entity count to three. The vendor positions it for organisations with more scale, complexity or growth and for end-to-end invoice-to-payment work.
Both packages are quoted. Medius also sells a wider spend management suite, including procurement, and lists a rapid implementation programme and premium support services. Its sites are offered in Swedish, French, Dutch, Danish and Norwegian as well as English. Medius fits mid-sized and larger finance teams that want packaged AP automation with fraud checks.

Basware sells invoice automation, AP automation and eProcurement as modules on a subscription model. The pricing page says buyers pick the modules that fit their systems and size, from mid-market solutions to deployments for large global corporations, and that professional services and customer success teams support rollout.
Its main distinction is compliance coverage. Basware cites more than 220 partners in its e-invoicing network, more than 250 ERP integration capabilities across more than 175 countries, VAT compliance in more than 60 countries and compliant invoicing enabled in more than 100. The company says it has more than 40 years in the market.

Frequently asked questions
What is accounts payable automation software?
Accounts payable automation software replaces manual handling of supplier invoices. It captures invoices from email, PDF or e-invoice, extracts and codes line items, matches them to purchase orders and receipts, routes them for approval and pays suppliers by ACH, card, check or wire. The results sync back to the ERP or accounting system, which shortens month-end close and leaves an audit trail.
How much does AP automation software cost?
Three of the ten products publish a figure as of October 2026. BILL charges $49, $65 or $89 per user per month, Ramp offers a $0 plan with bill pay and a Plus plan at $15 per user per month plus a platform fee, and Tipalti's AP plan starts at $99 per month plus transaction fees. Stampli, AvidXchange, Medius, Basware, Yooz, Rillion and Vic.ai quote, usually on invoice volume or modules.
What is the difference between accounts payable and accounts receivable automation?
Accounts payable automation handles money a company owes: supplier invoices, approvals and outgoing payments. Accounts receivable automation handles money owed to the company: customer invoicing, collections, cash application and incoming payments. Some products, such as BILL, include both, but most AP buyers evaluate payables tools separately because the users, controls and ERP workflows differ.
What is two-way and three-way matching?
Two-way matching checks an invoice against its purchase order for price and quantity. Three-way matching adds the goods receipt, confirming the items were delivered before payment. Tipalti, Stampli, Medius, Rillion and Ramp list two- and three-way matching; BILL reserves three-way matching for Enterprise, Ramp ties it to its Procurement add-on and Rillion sells PO matching as an add-on.
Are payment fees included in the subscription?
Often not. Tipalti lists transaction pricing per invoice and payment in addition to its plan, BILL states that checks, ACH, instant transfers and international payments can carry per-transaction fees, and Ramp charges $0.65 per IRS 1099 filing. Stampli lists Direct Pay as free for its customers. Buyers should ask for a full cost based on monthly invoice and payment volumes.
Which tools suit companies paying suppliers internationally?
Tipalti documents payments in more than 200 countries and territories, supplier onboarding in 27 languages and W-8 collection. Basware focuses on cross-border e-invoicing, citing VAT compliance in more than 60 countries. Stampli lists global ACH and wire through Direct Pay. Rillion's payments add-on is US only, and AvidXchange documents payment by virtual card, AvidPay Direct and mailed check.
What happened to AvidXchange?
AvidXchange was taken private. On 15 October 2025 it announced that TPG and Corpay had completed their acquisition at $10.00 per share, valuing the company at about $2.2 billion. TPG holds a majority stake and Corpay a minority stake, and AvidXchange shares no longer trade on Nasdaq. The product continues under the AvidXchange name.
How was this comparison compiled?
Each vendor's pricing and product pages were read on 7 October 2026, and pricing notes record what those pages showed on that date. The comparison uses published information only. The products were not used or tested, and no vendor confirmed its entry. All ten entries have dated source checks, and their order does not rank product quality.
