These comparisons draw on public product information, not hands-on testing of every tool. Source records identify available references and checks; missing evidence is marked. Buyer fit is an editorial assessment, not a measured performance score. How to use this research.
Mobile app analytics tools measure how people find, use and leave an app. An SDK inside the iOS, Android or cross-platform build records sessions, screens and events, and the vendor’s console turns them into funnels, retention curves, replays or campaign reports. App teams use the data to fix onboarding, prioritise bugs and judge which acquisition channels bring users who stay.
The market splits by the question each tool answers. Google Analytics for Firebase and AppMetrica provide free usage and engagement reporting. UXCam focuses on session replay and heatmaps for apps, and Luciq, formerly Instabug, ties crashes, performance and feedback to user impact. Countly offers the same kind of analytics in a private cloud or on the customer’s own servers. AppsFlyer and Adjust are attribution providers whose analytics centre on cohorts and lifetime value by campaign. Mixpanel is a general product analytics platform included for its mobile SDKs and mobile session replay.
The comparison covers eight products. Details come from each vendor’s public product, pricing and documentation pages, checked on 14 October 2026.
Vendor details and trade-offs
Google Analytics for Firebase is the app measurement part of Firebase, Google's development platform for mobile and web apps. Google describes it as an app measurement solution available at no charge that reports on app usage and user engagement. SDKs are available for iOS and other Apple platforms, Android, Flutter and web, and the product sits on top of the same data model as Google Analytics 4.
Once the SDK is added, it captures a set of events and user properties automatically, and developers define custom events for the actions that matter to the app. Google states that reporting is unlimited for up to 500 distinct events. The Firebase console shows active users, demographics, engagement and purchase data, and custom audiences can be built from device data, events or user properties.
The main reason teams choose it is integration. Analytics events are shared with other Firebase products: Crashlytics logs a crash event that lets teams see crash rates by version or region, notification campaigns sent from Firebase are measured automatically, and audiences can target Remote Config, A/B Testing and Cloud Messaging. Analytics data can be linked to BigQuery for custom analysis and joins with other data, which is where most advanced funnel or cohort work happens.
The Firebase pricing page lists Analytics as no-cost on both the free Spark plan and the pay-as-you-go Blaze plan. Costs arise from other Firebase services used alongside it and from BigQuery storage and queries.
Potential strengths
- No charge for Analytics reporting on any Firebase plan
- Shares audiences and events with Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging and A/B Testing
Trade-offs
- Custom reporting is limited to 500 distinct event types
- Deeper analysis usually means exporting to BigQuery and writing SQL
- Product reference
- Product documentation

UXCam is a product analytics company whose platform started with session recording for mobile apps and now covers web as well. It describes the product as analytics that gives answers, combining session replay, heatmaps, dashboards and issue analytics with an AI analyst called Tara. The vendor says it serves companies in more than 50 countries and processes more than 100 billion data points a month; these are vendor figures.
The core of the product is qualitative. Session replay shows where users tap, zoom or drop off on each screen, and heatmaps aggregate gestures across sessions. Frustration signals and unresponsive gestures flag screens where users struggle. These sit alongside quantitative tools: dashboards, funnels, retention tables, retention cohorts, smart events and user journey analytics, with limits that rise by plan.
UXCam also includes technical monitoring on paid plans: crashes, UI freezes, exceptions, log capture, stack trace analysis and issue alerts. This lets a product manager watch the session that led to a crash rather than reading a stack trace alone. Tara AI reviews sessions and data to suggest where and why users drop off, with a Pro add-on that analyses more data.
Plans are sized by monthly sessions. The free plan allows 3,000 sessions. Starter allows up to 10,000 with two production projects and five user licences, Growth adds sampling, five projects and ten licences, and Enterprise adds multi-region hosting, advanced exports and a customer success manager. The company states SOC 2 certification and GDPR compliance.
Potential strengths
- Free plan with 3,000 monthly sessions and no card required
- Combines qualitative replay with funnels, retention and technical monitoring
Trade-offs
- Paid plan prices are not published
- Video retention is one month on Starter and Growth
- Product reference
- Pricing source
- Billing terms: By monthly session volume; quoted on request
- Source review: checked Oct 14, 2026
- Vendor confirmation: not confirmed
AppMetrica is a mobile app analytics and marketing platform from Yandex. It presents itself as a one-stop solution for app analytics and marketing, with ready-made reports, dashboards and raw data export. The site lists solutions for games and e-commerce and covers monetisation, user acquisition and push communication.
On the analytics side, AppMetrica tracks automatic and basic events, including ad revenue, e-commerce, in-app purchases and subscriptions, without a limit. Custom events count toward plan limits. Users build segments to find valuable audiences, compare cohorts and measure how new features change engagement, and can create workspaces with widgets for their own dashboards. A Logs API and a paid Data Stream API export raw data to other business intelligence tools.
Marketing tools sit in the same product. Traffic analytics evaluates acquisition sources, revenue reports cover in-app purchases and ad monetisation, and push campaigns reach users from the same console. A/B experiments and feature flags are included, with two experiments and 100 flags at a time on the free plan.
The pricing documentation lists three plans per organisation. Free covers 100 million custom events a month. Custom keeps the free features and lets the buyer purchase larger event limits and add-ons, such as Data Stream API volume or subscription tracking through Apphud. Pro, at $3,000 a month, raises limits, adds LTV and churn predictions and includes personal support. Separate rouble pricing applies in Russia. At the time of checking, AppMetrica's web pricing page showed a temporary maintenance notice, while its pricing documentation remained available.
Potential strengths
- Large free allowance of 100 million custom events a month
- Analytics, attribution, revenue and push campaigns in one product
Trade-offs
- LTV and churn predictions require the $3,000 Pro plan
- Owned by Yandex, which some buyers will review for data jurisdiction
- Product reference
- Pricing source
- Billing terms: Monthly, per organisation
- Source review: checked Oct 14, 2026

Luciq is the current name of Instabug, a company long known for mobile bug reporting and crash reporting. Its site describes it as mobile-first and built for teams shipping apps with AI coding tools. The product consolidates signals from inside the app and structures them for engineers and AI agents to act on.
A single SDK captures three families of signals. Issues cover crashes, ANRs and visual bugs, with root cause attached. Business and engagement signals flag funnel drop-offs and rage taps, which the vendor says are ranked by revenue impact. Sentiment turns app store reviews and in-app feedback into a ranked list of items to fix or build. Luciq states that it captures all sessions without sampling.
This makes Luciq an analytics choice for a different question from Firebase or Mixpanel. It answers which quality problems are costing users and revenue, rather than how many users completed a feature. The Companion groups duplicate reports, attaches reproduction steps and ranks issues, and an Autopilot feature can open pull requests with guarded releases. Access is offered through MCP, a CLI and an API.
Pricing is one plan priced on daily active users and seats. Luciq says it does not charge per session, log or trace, so teams can collect data freely. Enterprise customers get SSO, SAML and SCIM, SOC 2 Type II certification, role-based access control, audit logs, unlimited apps and global data hosting with optional regional pinning.
Potential strengths
- Pricing tied to daily active users rather than session or log volume
- Captures 100% of sessions without sampling, according to the vendor
Trade-offs
- No published price list
- Oriented to engineering quality more than marketing or acquisition reporting
- Product reference
- Pricing source
- Billing terms: Quote-based, by daily active users and seats
- Source review: checked Oct 14, 2026
- Vendor confirmation: not confirmed
Countly is an analytics platform that started as an open-source mobile analytics project and is built around control of where data lives. For mobile teams, its SDKs collect events, sessions and crashes from apps, and the same platform also covers web, desktop and connected devices. Countly is also compared on StatWharf's product analytics page; here it is assessed for app use.
Capabilities are sold in three suites. Advanced Analytics, included on every plan, covers real-time analytics, event tracking, session analysis, user profiles, views, alerts and dashboards. Adaptivity adds the tools app teams use to act on data: push notifications, in-app messaging, A/B testing, journeys, surveys, hooks and remote configuration with feature flags. Intelligence adds funnels, retention, flows, formulas, crash reporting and an AI insights assistant called Cee.
Deployment is the main reason buyers shortlist it. Flex is hosted in a managed private cloud in a region the customer chooses, with customer-owned data and no default vendor access. Enterprise runs on the customer's infrastructure with fully customer-defined data location and subprocessors limited to integrations the customer controls. Countly lists support for GDPR, COPPA, CCPA, PDPL and HIPAA, and offers business associate agreements to eligible customers.
For a mobile team that only needs basic usage reporting, Firebase or AppMetrica cost less. Countly fits when legal or security requirements rule out sending app data to a shared multi-tenant cloud, or when push and remote config should run from the same data.
Potential strengths
- Self-hosted or private-cloud deployment with a choice of region
- Push notifications, in-app messaging and remote config alongside analytics
Trade-offs
- Funnels, retention and crash reports need the Intelligence add-on on Flex
- Self-hosted Enterprise pricing is not published
- Product reference
- Pricing source
- Billing terms: Flex monthly by usage; Enterprise custom
- Source review: checked Oct 14, 2026
- Vendor confirmation: not confirmed
AppsFlyer is a mobile measurement partner: its SDK records installs and in-app events and attributes them to the ads, links or channels that drove them. Its analytics are framed for marketers, and the pricing page groups them as marketing analytics alongside attribution, deep linking, ROI reporting and audience segmentation.
The marketing analytics cover cohort and retention reports, customisable dashboards, an activity dashboard, LTV analytics and pivot reports, plus a mobile app for viewing results. Advanced analytics and APIs include a programmatic cohort analytics API, an aggregated data API and aggregated report export. ROI reporting adds ad spend aggregation, cost data, receipt-validated in-app purchase measurement, impression-level ad revenue and subscription revenue measurement.
Apple's privacy rules shape iOS measurement, and AppsFlyer lists several tools for it: SKAN Conversion Studio, null conversion value modelling, conversion value recommendations and SKAN LTV modelling. Cross-platform attribution covers web and connected TV. The SDK supports all major platforms and plugins, and a server-to-server integration is available.
AppsFlyer is the right kind of tool when the main analytics question is which campaigns bring users who stay and pay. It does not replace an in-app behaviour tool such as Firebase or Mixpanel for screen-level funnels, and many app teams run both, passing attribution data into their product analytics.
Potential strengths
- Free tier for owned media and a published per-conversion price
- Cohort, retention, LTV and pivot reports alongside attribution
Trade-offs
- Analytics centre on acquisition and revenue rather than in-app behaviour
- Many advanced analytics and APIs sit in Enterprise or paid add-ons
- Product reference
- Pricing source
- Billing terms: Free, pay-as-you-go per conversion, or Enterprise contract
- Source review: checked Oct 14, 2026
- Vendor confirmation: not confirmed
Adjust is a Berlin-founded mobile measurement and analytics company that AppLovin acquired in 2021. Like AppsFlyer, its SDK attributes installs and in-app events to marketing sources, and its pricing page lists analytics and reporting as a separate group of features included on every plan. Adjust says it is trusted by more than 300,000 apps, a vendor figure.
The analytics product is Datascape, which Adjust calls an analytics solution built for marketers. It shows user acquisition and cohort dashboards, custom reports, and a SKAdNetwork dashboard for Apple's privacy-preserving attribution data. Users compare results across time periods and apps, filter many data sources on one screen and export reports from the dashboard. Every plan includes unlimited post-install KPI tracking, covering LTV, retention, sessions and custom events, as well as unlimited raw and aggregated data access and the KPI Service API.
Attribution features include click and impression attribution, iOS 14.5 and later measurement, configurable attribution windows, reattribution, TV attribution, deep linking and server-to-server event tracking. Paid growth solutions cover deep links, subscription and web attribution, fraud prevention, incrementality, audience building and data residency.
Adjust fits teams whose analytics needs start with campaign performance and cohort value. Product teams that need screen flows, session replay or feature adoption will still pair it with an in-app analytics tool, and Adjust lists third-party analytics integrations for that purpose.
Potential strengths
- Free Base plan for small developers
- Raw data, aggregated data and post-install KPIs included in all plans
Trade-offs
- Core and Enterprise prices are not published
- Fraud prevention, audiences and data residency are extra-cost add-ons
- Product reference
- Product documentation
- Pricing source
- Billing terms: By conversion volume; quoted for Core and Enterprise
- Source review: checked Oct 14, 2026
- Vendor confirmation: not confirmed
Mixpanel is a general product analytics platform used for web and mobile products, and it also appears on StatWharf's product analytics comparison. It is included here for its mobile tooling: native SDKs for Swift and Android, cross-platform libraries and a session replay SDK for mobile apps.
The iOS SDK installs through Swift Package Manager, CocoaPods or Carthage and is configured with a project token. Configuration options cover flush intervals, privacy settings and data residency; the documentation warns that projects with EU or India residency must point the SDK at the regional endpoint or events will not be ingested. Mixpanel recommends tracking events explicitly rather than relying on legacy automatically tracked events.
Session replay for iOS is a separate SDK on top of the main library. The documentation notes that SwiftUI automasking under iOS 26 was fixed in version 1.2.1 and recommends explicit masking of sensitive views, careful testing and staged rollout, describing these risks as common to all mobile session replay products.
Reporting covers insights, funnels, retention and flows, with cohorts, formulas, campaign reporting, multi-touch attribution and experiment reporting depending on plan. Monitoring, anomaly detection and root cause analysis are included, with feature flags and metric trees as add-ons. Pricing is per event above a free million each month, which suits apps with predictable event volumes. Teams with heavy event streams should design a tracking plan before launch so that costs stay in line with the questions they need to answer.
Potential strengths
- Published per-event pricing with a 1 million event free tier
- Native Swift and Android SDKs plus a separate session replay SDK
Trade-offs
- General product analytics tool, so mobile-only features such as crash reports are not included
- Event-based pricing needs careful tracking plans for high-volume apps
- Product reference
- Product documentation
- Pricing source
- Billing terms: Usage-based per event; Enterprise contract
- Source review: checked Oct 14, 2026
- Vendor confirmation: not confirmed
Frequently asked questions
What are mobile app analytics tools?
Mobile app analytics tools collect data through an SDK built into an iOS, Android or cross-platform app and report on how people use it. Depending on the tool, that means events, funnels and retention, session replays and heatmaps, crash and performance signals, or attribution of installs and revenue to marketing campaigns. Most app teams combine an in-app analytics tool with an attribution provider.
How much do mobile app analytics tools cost?
Prices checked in October 2026 vary by unit. Firebase Analytics has no charge. AppMetrica is free up to 100 million custom events a month and its Pro plan costs $3,000 a month. Mixpanel charges $0.28 per 1,000 events above a free million. Countly Flex starts at $175 a month. AppsFlyer Growth costs $0.07 per conversion after a free welcome package. UXCam, Luciq and Adjust's paid plans are quoted.
Is there free mobile app analytics software?
Several products have free options. Google Analytics for Firebase is no-cost on both Firebase plans. AppMetrica's free plan includes 100 million custom events a month. Mixpanel's free plan covers 1 million events a month, UXCam's free plan 3,000 sessions, AppsFlyer's Zero plan owned-media attribution, and Adjust's Base plan 1,500 monthly conversions in the first year.
What is the difference between app analytics and mobile attribution?
App analytics describes what users do inside the app, such as screens viewed, funnels completed and retention. Attribution, offered by mobile measurement partners such as AppsFlyer and Adjust, links each install and in-app event to the campaign or link that produced it. Attribution tools include cohort, retention and LTV reports by source, but they do not replace screen-level behaviour analysis.
Which tools offer session replay for mobile apps?
UXCam is built around session replay and heatmaps for apps, with frustration signals and crash context. Mixpanel provides a separate session replay SDK for iOS and Android, with 10,000 free replays a month on its Free plan. Luciq captures sessions to explain crashes, rage taps and drop-offs. Mixpanel's documentation recommends masking sensitive views and testing replay carefully before release.
Can mobile analytics be self-hosted?
Countly is the self-hosted option in this comparison. Its Enterprise plan runs on the customer's own infrastructure with no vendor access to data, and its Flex plan runs in a managed private cloud in a chosen region. Mixpanel offers US, EU or India data residency, and Luciq offers regional data pinning on Enterprise, but both are vendor-hosted.
What happened to Flurry and Smartlook?
Yahoo shut down Flurry Analytics, including its SDK and dashboard, on 15 March 2024. Smartlook, owned by Cisco, stopped new sales on 31 May 2026 and contract renewals on 31 August 2026, and its platform is due to be decommissioned on 30 September 2027. Neither is included in this comparison because new buyers cannot purchase them.
How was this comparison compiled?
StatWharf Editorial compared eight mobile app analytics products using each vendor's public product, pricing and documentation pages, checked on 14 October 2026. Products were selected for SDK-based app analytics; Embrace was left out because it now operates as part of Palo Alto Networks' Cortex platform and focuses on observability. No product was tested hands-on and no vendor confirmed its entry. The order is not a ranking.
