Best Product Catalog Management Software (2026): Top 10 Compared
The ten products below hold product records, attributes and assets in one place and send them to web stores, marketplaces, retailers and print catalogs. Three groups appear. Self-serve PIM tools (Plytix, Sales Layer, Catsy) suit smaller teams and show plan limits on their sites. Open-source and composable platforms (Akeneo, Pimcore, Bluestone PIM) let a technical team shape the data model and host it or buy it as SaaS. Enterprise product experience suites (Salsify, inriver, Syndigo, Stibo Systems) add retailer syndication, digital shelf analytics or master data management. Plytix and Pimcore publish prices, Akeneo and Pimcore offer free open-source editions, and the other vendors quote after a sales call.

These comparisons draw on public product information, not hands-on testing of every tool. Source records identify available references and checks; missing evidence is marked. Buyer fit is an editorial assessment, not a measured performance score. How to use this research.
Product catalog management software gives a company one record for every product it sells. Teams import data from ERP systems, supplier files and spreadsheets, add descriptions, attributes, translations and images, check that each product is complete, and send the result to web stores, marketplaces, retailers and printed catalogs. Most vendors sell this as product information management (PIM), often with digital asset management built in.
The market splits three ways. Self-serve tools from Plytix, Sales Layer and Catsy suit smaller teams and publish plan limits or prices. Open-source and composable platforms from Akeneo, Pimcore and Bluestone PIM give developers control of the data model. Enterprise suites from Salsify, inriver, Syndigo and Stibo Systems add retailer syndication, digital shelf analytics or master data management. This comparison covers ten products across those groups, with pricing read from each vendor’s own pages.
Vendor details and trade-offs
Plytix is a product information management tool with built-in digital asset management. Teams import product data from spreadsheets or other systems, organize it into product families with automatic inheritance, attach images and files, and export channel-ready data. The Pro plan adds advanced user permissions, SSO and a 30-day change log.
The pricing model is built around SKU count, not users. Every plan has unlimited seats, and the Standard plan is free for up to 500 SKUs. Plytix states that 75% of new customers start on Standard. Pro moves the limit to 50,000 SKUs for $499 per month, and Enterprise adds unlimited SKUs and multiple accounts for agencies and multi-brand companies.
Distribution tools are sold separately. The feeds add-on gives unlimited custom feeds and syncs plus more than 150 marketplace templates. Brand Portals share approved content with retailers and distributors, and Product Data Sheets create PDFs automatically. AI credits cover text edits and image tasks such as relighting and upscaling.
Potential strengths
- Plan prices, add-on prices and onboarding fees are published
- Every plan includes unlimited users
Trade-offs
- Feeds, Brand Portals and product sheets cost extra each month
- Standard is capped at 500 SKUs and a 7-day change log
- Product reference
- Product documentation
- Pricing source
- Billing terms: Per month, billed monthly, no long-term commitment; add-ons and credits extra
- Source review: checked Sep 22, 2026

Pimcore is an open-core data and experience platform. Its product information management module sits next to master data management, digital asset management and content management, so one installation can hold product records, images and web content. A team can run it on its own servers or buy the PaaS edition, which adds managed hosting, monitoring, auto-scaling and zero-downtime deployments.
The licence model is flat. Pimcore states that it does not charge by the number of products, assets, sites or users, whether a customer manages ten products or ten million. The Professional Edition includes all core modules. The Enterprise Edition adds the E-commerce Framework, a customer data platform and long-term support releases.
The trade-off is technical effort. Pimcore gives developers a flexible data model and full access to the code, but a buyer needs developers or a partner to design classes, imports and integrations. It suits companies with complex product data and a development team, more than a small store that wants to start in a day.
Potential strengths
- Edition prices are published, with no per-user or per-SKU charges
- A free Community Edition lets a team build and test before buying
Trade-offs
- Setup and data modelling need developers or an implementation partner
- Ecommerce framework and CDP modules need the Enterprise Edition
- Product reference
- Pricing source
- Billing terms: Per year for on-premises editions; PaaS by quote
- Source review: checked Sep 22, 2026
- Vendor confirmation: not confirmed
Akeneo sells a product experience platform built around its PIM. Teams collect product data, model catalogs, enrich attributes and assets, and distribute the result to channels. The Growth package includes the Data Architect Agent, which guides a user through creating a data model, composable products for variations and bundles, and AI description generation and asset extraction.
Advanced adds collaboration workflows for validation and approval, rights management by user, team or scope, and data governance for each channel. Enterprise adds PX Insights with one data source, governance trees, SIEM integration and a success package with a strategic customer success manager and 24/7 support. The compare page also lists a Supplier Data Manager for onboarding supplier data and a DAM with a content delivery network.
Akeneo still offers PIM Community Edition as free open-source software. A buyer can download it, host it and change the code, but support comes from the community. Companies that do not want to run servers move to the SaaS packages, which Akeneo sells by quote.
Potential strengths
- A free, open-source Community Edition is available
- Package tiers are documented feature by feature
Trade-offs
- SaaS package prices are not published
- Collaboration workflows and advanced permissions start at the Advanced package

Salsify calls its platform product experience management (PXM). The PIM is the central system of record for product data. Salsify states that the PIM is natively built with content syndication and direct publishing, so a brand can prepare content and send it to retailer and marketplace endpoints from the same system. Workflows move content between teams and enforce each endpoint's data requirements.
The platform's newer features focus on AI. Angie is a conversational assistant inside Salsify. The Intelligence Suite adds AI task types to the workflow engine, and SalsifyIQ is described as a shared intelligence layer for users and AI agents. Salsify lists AI tasks such as translating base properties, creating content variants for personas or keywords, extracting text from packaging or spec sheets, and auditing content quality.
Salsify's site announces that Cinven will acquire the company. Salsify's case material centers on large consumer brands, and its pages describe physical, digital and agentic shelves. A retailer-heavy brand is the most natural buyer.
Potential strengths
- PIM, syndication and direct publishing sit in one platform
- Documented AI tools for translation, content variants and extraction from packaging
Trade-offs
- No public pricing
- Built for brands selling through retailers more than for a single web store
- Product reference
- Product documentation
- Billing terms: Not recorded
- Source review: checked Sep 22, 2026

inriver sells a PIM platform to manufacturers, brands and retailers. Its plans page describes a path in four steps. Foundation creates a single source of truth for product information and introduces user workflows. Core adds single-click syndication to sales channels and a self-serve digital storefront for brand assets. The upper tiers add more endpoints, more markets and global control of product information.
inriver states that the platform includes built-in API-based data syndication, digital shelf analytics and an elastic data model. Digital shelf analytics shows how products perform on retailer sites after the content goes live, which links catalog work to online sales results.
Every plan is customized and quoted. inriver's own pricing guide describes PIM costs across the market, from free plans to enterprise contracts, but the company does not publish its own figures. A buyer should ask which connectors, analytics and endpoints each proposal includes.
Potential strengths
- Plan tiers are described by company size and capability
- Syndication and digital shelf analytics are part of the platform
Trade-offs
- No plan shows a price
- Feature scope per tier is described in outline, so buyers need a proposal to compare

Syndigo sells a product experience cloud for brands, retailers and IT teams. The PIM centralizes product data with automated workflows, multi-locale content and AI productivity apps that Syndigo calls GoPilots. Around it sit MDM, GDSN, Vendor Central, nutrition and wellness data, enhanced content, rich media, ratings and reviews, and digital shelf analytics.
The network is the main difference. Syndigo states that its commerce data network connects more than 15,000 brands and 3,500 retailers, and that data is validated against nearly 4,000 retailer requirements. A brand sends content once and Syndigo formats it for each retailer. Retailers use the same platform to collect vendor data, plan assortments and run approval workflows.
Syndigo also sells managed services for content creation, syndication and implementation. The suite suits companies whose product data must pass through many trading partners.
Potential strengths
- Covers both the brand side and the retailer side of product data exchange
- Adds GDSN, nutrition data and enhanced content next to PIM
Trade-offs
- No public pricing
- A large suite for a company that only needs a catalog for its own store
- Product reference
- Product documentation
- Billing terms: Not recorded
- Source review: checked Sep 22, 2026

Stibo Systems is a master data management vendor. Its PIM is the hub of the Product Experience Data Cloud. Product data arrives from ERP, CRM, PLM, ecommerce and other systems, passes through data models, workflows, business rules and validations, and becomes a governed product record. Product Data Onboarding receives incoming supplier data, and Product Data Syndication shares the finished record with channels.
The PIM supports industry standards such as TecDoc, BMEcat, ETIM and ECLASS. These matter to automotive, electrical and industrial suppliers whose customers require data in a set structure. Stibo Systems also presents governed product data as input for AI systems and agents that read and cite product information.
The same company manages customer, supplier and location data, so a buyer can extend beyond products later. The platform suits large organizations with many source systems.
Potential strengths
- Built-in support for industrial classification standards
- Product data connects to customer, supplier and location master data
Trade-offs
- No public pricing
- Scope and governance depth exceed the needs of a small catalog

The vendor now positions the product as agent-first. AI agents read, sort and clean supplier feeds, enrich content and validate data, while people handle approvals. It also publishes a vendor claim of lower cost per SKU for large catalogs, which StatWharf did not verify.

Sales Layer is a cloud PIM for B2B and B2C companies. Its plans include a product quality score, a bulk transformation engine with smart formulas and exports to CSV, Excel and Excel templates. Higher plans add a translation engine, user permissions, marketplace connectors, parallel and sequential workflows, and output to InDesign for print catalogs.
The vendor now leads with AI agents. Teams configure an agent in natural language, and it translates, writes descriptions, optimizes SEO or checks units and dimensions without constant supervision. Sales Layer states that agents can keep translations current in more than 50 languages and can take industry context documents for sectors such as lighting, furniture or nutrition.
The pricing page is clear on limits but not on price. Each plan has a published cap on users and SKUs, and billing can be monthly or annual. A free trial is offered.

It syncs product data from ERP and CRM systems, stores images, videos, manuals, 3D files and 360-degree spins, and pushes content to sales channels or internal teams. Readiness dashboards show which products lack required content, and native retailer templates format exports.
Catsy states that it is built for manufacturers, B2B brands and wholesale distributors. It names CPG brands that need retailer templates, industrial manufacturers with complex spec sheets and component kits, and electronics brands that manage manuals and renders.
Packages follow the buyer's channel. Frequently asked questions
What is product catalog management software?
Product catalog management software keeps product records in one place. It stores identifiers, attributes, descriptions, prices, variants and media, lets teams enrich and approve that content, and sends it to web stores, marketplaces, retailers and print catalogs. Most products in this category are sold as product information management (PIM) software, and many include digital asset management.
Is product catalog management the same as PIM?
In practice, most vendors use PIM for the same job. Catalog management describes the goal, a complete and consistent product catalog on every channel. PIM describes the system that stores and governs the data behind it. Some ecommerce and B2B platforms also include basic catalog tools, but a dedicated PIM adds data modelling, workflows, completeness checks and channel feeds.
Which catalog management tools publish prices?
As of September 2026, Plytix lists a free Standard plan for 500 SKUs and Pro at $499 per month for 50,000 SKUs. Pimcore lists Professional at $9,900 and Enterprise at $29,900 per year on-premises. Akeneo and Pimcore offer free open-source editions. Sales Layer publishes user and SKU limits but not prices. The other vendors quote after a demo.
Is there free product catalog management software?
Yes. Plytix Standard is free for up to 500 SKUs with unlimited users. Akeneo PIM Community Edition and Pimcore Community Edition are free to download and host. The open-source editions need a server and technical skills, and support comes from the community rather than the vendor.
How is PIM software priced?
Vendors meter by SKU count, users, channels or edition. Plytix and Sales Layer set limits by SKUs, Sales Layer also caps users, Catsy caps marketplace channels, and Pimcore charges a flat yearly licence with no user or product limits. Add-ons such as feeds, portals, AI credits and onboarding services often add to the base price.
What is the difference between PIM and syndication?
PIM stores and enriches product data for the company. Syndication sends that data to retailers and marketplaces in each partner's required format and keeps it current. Salsify, Syndigo and inriver include syndication in the platform. Other vendors sell feeds as an add-on or rely on connectors, so a buyer should check which retailers each product reaches.
When does a company need PIM instead of spreadsheets?
A spreadsheet works while one person manages a small catalog for one channel. PIM becomes useful when several teams edit product data, when the catalog adds languages or channels, or when retailers reject listings for missing attributes. Completeness scores, approval workflows and scheduled imports reduce the manual checks that spreadsheets need.
How was this list compiled?
StatWharf Editorial selected vendors that document product information or catalog management on their own sites, and read each vendor's product and pricing pages in September 2026. The page shares no vendors with StatWharf's B2B ecommerce platforms page. No product was tested hands-on, and no vendor confirmed its entry.
