Construction management software replaces the binders, spreadsheets and email chains that once held a building project together. Drawings, RFIs, submittals, schedules, daily logs, change orders and budgets sit in one system that the office, field crews and outside parties can reach from a phone or browser. Products differ mainly by who they serve: commercial general contractors, residential builders, trade contractors or owners.
The comparison below covers ten products. Features and pricing come from each vendor’s own product, pricing and FAQ pages, checked in October 2026. Six vendors publish prices: Trimble ProjectSight, JobTread, Fieldwire, Contractor Foreman, Knowify and Buildern. Procore prices by annual construction volume, and Autodesk Forma Build, Buildertrend and Projectmates quote on request. Each profile records what the vendor’s page states.

Vendor details and trade-offs
Procore sells a cloud construction platform to general contractors, specialty contractors, owners and public agencies. Its project management product covers drawings with automatic sheet naming and hyperlinking, specifications, submittals, RFIs linked to drawings, meetings, correspondence, punch lists, daily logs, timecards, photos and integrated scheduling with look-ahead reports. Field data can be tied to the budget so labour costs and commitments show against cost codes as work happens, and change orders can be raised from the field.
The commercial model is the main point of difference from seat-based tools. Procore states that it never charges for adding users, which matters on a project where the owner, architect, subcontractors and suppliers all need access. The trade-off is that the annual fee follows Annual Construction Volume, so a growing contractor pays more as its backlog grows, and the multi-year pool and renewal rate protection options exist to make that cost predictable.
Potential strengths
- Unlimited users, storage and 24/7 live support are included in every contract
- Marketplace of more than 500 integrations, including Microsoft Project, Smartsheet and Oracle Primavera P6
Trade-offs
- No published price, and cost rises with the dollar volume of work run through the platform
- Products are bought separately, so the quote must list every module a team expects to use
- Product reference
- Pricing source
- Billing terms: Upfront annual fee per product, based on Annual Construction Volume

Autodesk Construction Cloud is now part of Autodesk Forma, and the construction management product formerly called Autodesk Build is sold as Forma Build. Autodesk describes it as project, cost, safety and quality management for both office and field teams.
The project management capabilities listed on the product page include searchable specifications, submittal logs, RFIs connected to tasks, structured meeting minutes, centralised correspondence, schedule management, digital weekly work plans that turn the master schedule into daily field work, and closeout. Cost management, quality and safety, and data standards and reporting sit alongside them. Integrated tools named on the page include Forma Design Collaboration, Forma Data Management, TradeTapp subcontractor qualification, an accounting integration and Forma Construction Connect.
The pricing page groups Forma products into three bundles. Construction Operations pairs Forma Build with AutoSpecs, Pype closeout and Forma Data Management.
Potential strengths
- Covers specifications, submittals, RFIs, meetings, correspondence, scheduling and closeout in one product
- Bundles combine construction tools with preconstruction or model management at one price
Trade-offs
- No published price
- The Autodesk Construction Cloud product names changed to Forma in 2026, so older guides and contracts may use the previous names

Trimble ProjectSight is the project management product in Trimble's construction portfolio. It handles RFIs, submittals, specifications, drawings, punch lists, photos and daily reports, with a free mobile app for iOS and Android.
The plan structure gives small teams an unusual starting point. The Free plan allows unlimited users on up to three projects. The Go plan removes the project limit and adds daily reports, custom fields and security roles. Enterprise is aimed at teams of 30 or more users.
Enterprise is where ProjectSight connects to the rest of Trimble's software. Trimble lists 360 Capture, BIM collaboration, budget and change order management, connected workflows for MEP trades and integrations to Vista and Spectrum, its construction ERP products, as Enterprise capabilities that need configuration or add-ons.
Potential strengths
- Published per-user price and a free plan that covers RFIs, submittals, specifications, drawings, punch lists and photos
- 360 video walkthroughs can be mapped to drawings and linked to RFIs and issues
Trade-offs
- Budget and change order management and ERP integrations require Enterprise configuration or add-ons
- Free plan storage is limited to 2 GB

- Billing terms: Per user per month, billed annually; Enterprise quoted

Buildertrend sells construction management software mainly to residential builders and remodelers, and states that more than 20,000 builders use it. The platform has four areas. Sales covers leads, proposals and email marketing. Project management covers scheduling, selections, change orders with electronic signatures, daily logs, a time clock and warranty claims. Financial tools cover budgets, job costing, forecasting, work-in-progress reporting, bills and purchase orders, and AI-based bill capture. Client management provides a homeowner portal with updates and online payments.
Accounting connects to QuickBooks or Xero. Buildertrend publishes a twelve-week onboarding plan led by a dedicated onboarding manager, ending with a live job run in the system.
The pricing page asks whether the buyer is a homebuilder, remodeler, commercial general contractor or specialty contractor, and states the product is built for builders running five or more projects a year.
Potential strengths
- Unlimited users and projects on every plan
- Onboarding manager sets up accounts with real data and runs a live job with the team over about twelve weeks
Trade-offs
- No published price; a quote requires submitting contact details and a call
- Positioned for builders with five or more projects a year, so very small firms may find it more than they need
- Product reference

- Billing terms: Subscription; 10% discount for annual upfront payment

JobTread is a construction management platform from Dallas that states it is used by more than 13,000 construction businesses.
The feature set runs from sales to closeout. Sales and estimating covers a construction CRM, estimating, takeoff, contracts with e-signatures, a cost catalogue and bid requests. Project management covers tasks and scheduling, daily logs, time tracking, forms, files and subcontractor and vendor portals. Job finances cover budgets, change orders, job costing, purchase and work orders, AIA payment applications, subcontractor billing and customer invoices. Customer portals add selections, allowances, messaging, online payments and warranty management.
The pricing model separates internal users from everyone else. Internal users are employees who manage jobs, schedules and reports. Customers, vendors and subcontractors use external portals for free, and field crew who only upload photos, log notes or check off tasks can also be added free.
Potential strengths
- Fully published pricing with volume breaks for larger teams
- Native AIA payment applications, takeoff, cost catalogue and QuickBooks Online integration
Trade-offs
- Per-user charges apply to every office employee and accountant who needs full access
- Product scope is centred on residential and smaller commercial work rather than large commercial projects
- Product reference
- Pricing source
- Billing terms: Monthly or annual; no contract; 20% saving on annual

Fieldwire, owned by Hilti, describes itself as a field-first jobsite management tool and states that it has powered more than four million jobsites. It is designed so the whole project team, from foreman to project manager, shares information from the field in real time.
Core features are mobile plan viewing with versioning and auto-hyperlinking, task management, punch lists, inspections, markups and as-builts recorded on mobile even when offline, photos and videos, digital forms for daily reports, timesheets and inspection requests, and scheduled PDF reports.
Plans add capability in steps. Pro adds reports, exports, sheet compare and templates. Business adds custom forms, app integrations and a BIM viewer. Business Plus adds RFIs, submittal management, change orders and budget, which moves Fieldwire from a field coordination tool into project management.
Potential strengths
- Free plan and published per-user prices in many currencies
- Works offline for markups and as-builts, with plan versioning and auto-hyperlinking
Trade-offs
- RFIs, submittal management, change orders and budget are only in Business Plus
- Per-user pricing grows with every crew member who needs a login

- Pricing source
- Billing terms: Per user per month, billed annually or monthly; custom contracts

Contractor Foreman markets itself as affordable all-in-one software for contractors. Its feature list is unusually wide for the price band. Project management covers to-dos, a client portal, scheduling, service tickets, opportunities, punch lists, work orders, permits, daily logs and inspections. Financials cover takeoffs, a cost database, change orders, subcontracts, estimates, invoices, online payments, purchase orders and bid management. People tools cover team chat, crew schedules, incident reports, leads, safety meetings and time cards. Document tools include submittals, drawing and PDF markup, equipment and vehicle logs, and forms and checklists.
The plan ladder is set by user cap, from one user on Basic to unlimited users. That keeps cost flat as a crew grows within a tier, which suits small firms adding field staff.
Potential strengths
- Published prices with a single-user Basic plan for owner-operators
- Covers safety meetings, incidents, equipment logs and permits as well as estimates and invoices
Trade-offs
- Monthly billing costs noticeably more than annual and excludes the Basic plan
- Xero integration is listed as coming in mid-2026 rather than available
- Product reference
- Pricing source
- Billing terms: Annual or monthly plans; Basic annual only
- Source review: checked Oct 8, 2026

Buildern is construction management software for residential and commercial builders. Preconstruction covers leads and client relationship management, takeoff, estimating, bid requests to vendors and subcontractors, proposals and cost catalogues. Project management covers scheduling with list and Gantt views, selections and allowances, RFIs and submittals, timesheets and file management. Financial tools cover budgets with cost codes, purchase orders, bills, invoices, change orders and forecasting reports.
Buildern's billing workflow uses AI to extract supplier names, totals, due dates and line items from uploaded or emailed bills, create draft bills and match them to purchase orders, with bulk processing. The data then syncs both ways with QuickBooks or Xero.
Plans are sized by office seats. Starter is described as fitting one to five office users and Professional five to thirty, with custom onboarding included on Professional at any billing cycle and on Starter only with annual billing.
Potential strengths
- Field workers, subcontractors and vendors do not need paid seats
- Both QuickBooks and Xero are supported with two-way sync
Trade-offs
- Starter and Professional base prices include only 2 and 4 seats
- AI features are a separate paid add-on per seat

- Billing terms: Monthly or annual; annual saves 10%; no contracts

Projectmates describes itself as a project management information system, or PMIS, for construction owners. Its FAQ defines the category as software that lets owners plan, track and control capital projects in one structured system rather than relying on contractors' status reports. The company states that it is now part of Octave and that more than 100,000 active projects run on the platform.
Modules cover document management with revision and download tracking, cost management for budgets, bids, contracts, change orders, pay applications and invoices, workflow automation for RFIs, submittals, daily field reports and punch lists, capital project planning with funding sources, schedule management across projects and programs, and analytics with more than 100 pre-built or drag-and-drop reports.
Projectmates lists configurations for government, healthcare, higher education, K-12, retail and real estate.
Potential strengths
- Capital planning and portfolio reporting that contractor-focused tools do not centre on
- Industry configurations for government, education, healthcare, retail and real estate
Trade-offs
- No published price
- Owner focus means contractor-side features such as estimating and field crew time tracking are not its core
- Product reference
- Product documentation

Frequently asked questions
What is construction management software?
Construction management software is a shared system for running building projects. It stores current drawings and specifications, tracks RFIs, submittals and change orders, records daily logs, photos and punch lists, schedules work, and ties field progress to budgets and job costs. Most products give subcontractors, clients or owners limited access so project communication stays in one record instead of email.
How much does construction management software cost?
Published prices on this page range from free plans at Trimble ProjectSight and Fieldwire to $49 per month for Contractor Foreman Basic, $99 per month for Knowify Core billed yearly, $199 per month plus user fees for JobTread and $225 per month for Buildern Starter billed annually. Procore prices by annual construction volume, and Autodesk Forma Build, Buildertrend and Projectmates quote on request.
Which construction management software suits commercial general contractors?
Procore, Autodesk Forma Build and Trimble ProjectSight are built around commercial workflows such as RFIs, submittals, specifications, drawings and meetings. Fieldwire's Business Plus plan adds RFIs, submittals, change orders and budgets to its field tools. The right fit depends on design tools in use, accounting systems and whether the firm prefers per-user or volume-based pricing.
Which tools are built for residential builders and remodelers?
Buildertrend, JobTread and Buildern combine leads, estimating, selections, client portals, scheduling and job costing for home builders and remodelers. Contractor Foreman covers similar ground at lower fixed plan prices.
What is the difference between per-user and unlimited-user pricing?
Per-user pricing, used by Fieldwire, ProjectSight Go and Knowify, charges for each person who logs in, so cost grows with team size. Procore and Buildertrend state unlimited users, and Procore instead scales its fee with annual construction volume. JobTread and Buildern charge for office users but give customers, subcontractors, vendors and some field staff free access.
Does construction management software integrate with accounting systems?
Most products on this page do. JobTread, Knowify, Contractor Foreman and Buildertrend list QuickBooks, Buildern and Buildertrend also support Xero, and ProjectSight Enterprise connects to Trimble's Vista and Spectrum ERP products. Procore and Autodesk Forma Build list accounting integrations. A buyer should confirm the exact accounting edition, since QuickBooks Online and Desktop are handled differently.
What software do construction owners use?
Owners that run capital programs often use a project management information system, or PMIS, which focuses on capital planning, budget approvals, contract and change order control and portfolio reporting. Projectmates is built for that buyer. Procore and Fieldwire also offer owner-specific use cases, but their core workflow is contractor-led project delivery.
